Instead of a traditional guest book, I am going to use cards from an address file. . I will set cards on a table with a sign asking friends and family to jot down messages; once they've penned their notes, they can file their card alphabetically, leaving me to merely flip through all the warm wishes that range from A to Z.

A bride and groom say "I do" on stilts!

I have my appointment all set up for the morning of the wedding.
Rose is my stylist, she owns Salon Michelle here in Hamilton. Her and I have arranged to have my hair along with the bridesmaids, flower girls and my moms hair done. Appointments are at 8am sharp!!

After the ceremony we have decided to get our formal pictures taken at the Distillery District in downtown Toronto.

A little history for ya..

The Distillery District is a unique part of town that has been around since 1831 and it has the best preserved Victorian architecture in North America. The distillery produced almost 1/2 of Ontario's beer and alcohol in1971. Soooo its appropriate that Rob and I have our pictures taken here... LOL

The distillery business fell on hard times and was sold and closed in 1990 after operating on the same site for close to 170 years!

In 2001 the property was purchased for $15 million had a massive restoration, the project came complete with the forty-five original 19th century buildings.

It is now a pedestrian only village and is filled with live music, outdoor exhibitions, galleries, boutiques, restaurants, artist studios and special events even movies like X-Men have been filmed here.

I love the vintage look the distillery portrays, but I hate the permit that we have to buy to have our photos taken here:(

I just love these.

We have ordered these before for everyday mail, and have always been very happy with the cost, shipping and product. You are able to design your own on the vista print web site.

We are going to stick these to the envelopes when we send the save the date magnets out (see post). The save the dates are meant to be fun and not so formal, so I can wait to put them in the mail!!!!

I also used the www.retailmenot.com website and saved 50% !

I love the idea of having a candy buffet!

We are keeping the candy the same colour at our buffet, however we are unsure if we are going to use all green, blue or white candy. ?

I don't want it to look like it barfed green and blue everywhere. I want to ensure that the accent colour is used tastefully.

I am still unsure how my guest will package the candy to bring home.

But we know that we want to display them in large Apothecary Jars.

I have been to some great websites that offer bulk candy at a "reasonable" price.

Did I mention our cake is all candy as well!!! (see below)

Everything is coming together, I can't wait!!!

I also thought having "fan" programs at the church were a good idea for a hot August wedding!

This is my first DIY project!!

I am lucky enough to have 2 flower girls!

I posted some ideas for gowns for the girls, I am stuck.
My colours are green and teal, but they are just accent colours, I dont want to over do it,,,, you know what I mean.

We are going to order 100% silk dresses, I feel this is appropriate because my dress is silk.

I will ensure to update once we place our order!
Just ordered today!! --- check! another thing off the list!

We decided to order 2 different dresses, one all ivory with a green sash. The other with a ivory top and a green skirt. (see the pic of the 3 girls in the pink dresses)

Some inspirational ideas in my colour theme.

We just had our Engagement pictures taken on Feb 2/08!

We were able to choose 2 locations.
We went ice skating in Toronto at Nathan Phillips Square, and to the Humber Bridge located just off lakeshore also in Toronto.

We had a blast, and I am soooo pleased with how our pictures turned out! Well worth the money. The same company will be shooting the wedding! I cant wait!!

We wanted to incorporate some kinda of
entertainment into the wedding.

We went through lots of different ideas, like having live music, possibly Elvis impersonator or a few belly dancers etc.

However we decided that a Cuban Cigar Roller would be a unique idea. It gives our guest some time on our patio, and I am sure it will make for some great photos!

We are also going to provide matches, this will tie in nicely and we can put something cheesy on it like "a perfect match"

Just got them in the mail today!!!!!!!
I am very pleased with them!

We think its a good idea because the wedding is on Labour Day Weekend....we want to give our guests lots of notice.

UPDATE: The save the dates have been mailed out to our guests!
I have got a lot of fantastic feed back about them! Waaa less then 5 months to the wedding!

So, this is still on our "to do" list...

We are unsure in which direction to go in....
Do we........

1. Have a older vintage car
2. Have a parade of 3 Mini Cooper Convertibles
3. Rent a big party bus
4. Hummer?

I love the vintage idea, but am concerned with the cars not having air conditioning.

The minis are soo cool - rather unique! However it means our bridal party and ourselves would be driving that day.

I love the buses, but we only have a wedding party of 8 including our selves... lol

Booked! Wow that was not an easy task finding a hall!

Thats how I found this gem.. on their website. This Grand Ballroom is in a private members only facility. And everything about our hall is just stunning! Valet parking, cloth hand towels in the bathroom, patio!

The lights on the ceiling can be changed to match your colour theme!
How cool is that.

Little more then we originally wanted to spend, but I think its well worth it!

Good news is, that the florist has been booked!
We decided to go with the same florist my sister used.

I love green mums!!

So, we just went for our 1st cake tasting yesterday. MMMM

We decided to go with The Wedding Cake Shoppe in Toronto.
And we had a chance to meet with the designer, Cindy yesterday.
She was so excited to duplicate our Martha Stewart cake! And was more then happy to customize it will any modifications we wanted.

Some modifications to the cake are ...
-- We decided to have the cake made with only green candy
-- An aqua / teal ribbon on all 4 tiers

Cindy shared with me the hardest part about making this cake, would be finding the candy. But she is confident that she will find it on her next trip out to New York City!!! wow

Robert and I decided today on our flavors, Cindy mentioned that each tier can be customized to what ever flavor combination you wanted. However we decided to keep the whole cake the same, Dark chocolate cake with white chocolate icing MMM MMM MMM!!

Our cake topper was ordered off of Ebay! A Classic LEGO bride and groom!

I ordered my Bubbles from Ebay! I thought they looked just like our church!
