$!$!FLOWERS$!$!$!

Ok girls, I was shocked when I found out how much my flowers were going to be!! Around $500 including mine, groom, bm,gm,and our parents and grandparents. Am I right about being this shocked or is this about normal!! FLOWERS DONT LAST 4-EVER!! I didnt even pick expensive flower like roses or peonies!!! My flowers I picked were carnations, daffodils, hydrangeas and a few roses for my bouqet. How much is everybody spending out there on just flowers??

They are A LOT more than girl's think. Ours were in the $1,000.00++ range and that was with cutting out a bunch of things to save money. I got my bouquet, 3 for the BMs, 3 wrist flowers for the mama's and one grandma, petals for the flower girl, 6 flowers for all the guys' tuxes, archpiece, and that was it!

So, I made the aisle pomeanders to save money and the florist really liked us and gave us the aisle petals and a headtable piece as a gift!

i know some people frown upon this but we're going with silk. no offense but it doesnt make any sense, to me, to spend so much on something that isnt really gauranteed.  I dont know a lot about flowers and i'd have no idea how to keep them from being ruined the day of & i just have a fear of them not coming in right.  I just ordered my flowers and spent $250, takes care of all 7 bouquets, 15 cors/bouts, 3 flower girls baskets and their halos, and i'll have extra for all needed at the reception (but we're not doing a whole lot there) I was able to order in bulk so i saved on certain items, and the others I'll have extras for whatever we need. i dont think i've seen anyone post anything about silk so not sure how common it is.

I agree with the other bride on the post who said she's going with silk. No offense to other brides.  I think both are really gorgeous.  However, with my budget I cant see paying 500.00 or more on flowers.  Hobby Lobby makes the most beautiful beatiners (check spelling) for the guys and cortsoges (spelling again) for the parents of the brides/grooms.  All for 100.00.  My mother does arragements.  She fixes them up then ask for my opinion. She can add and take away.  The good thing is I can reuse all arrangements in our home.  The bridesmaids can reuse their bouquets as well.  It's all about your money and preference at this point.

I'm buying mine online and making bouquets, etc. It's cheaper and you can get what you want, without a lot of filler flowers. The flowers for the church are going to silk though. I figure that no one is really going to be able to tell when they are up on the alter. I also thought that I would go very neutral with the flowers for the church and then donate them. That way, if they have another wedding and the people are on a tight budget, they can be reused.

I was told around the same so this is why i have decided to go to the garden gallery and buy my own and arrange them myself. Shouldnt cost me more than $300 for all the bouquets and bouitners and even the flowers for the tables! I feel aswell that i shouldnt spend so much on them if they dont last forever. But apparently $500 and up is a common price wedding flowers :S

I am lucky because my friend is a florist and she is doing ALL the arrangements, boutineers, corsages for free. The cost of all it will $175.
You know Costco and Sams Club sell flowers in bulk, like 80 gerber daisies for $80. The look for flowers is very simple, so you could do your own flowers in very simple arrangements and just have the corsages and boutineers done by a local grocery store for $20 a pop. They really do just as good a job. Just some thoughts and good luck!

My flowers are costing around $600. Its because when you say its for a wedding everything goes up.
Im spending $600 for
1 bouquet (mine)
8 Corages for the mom's and grandma's (carnations since they are CHEAP)
6 Boutineers for the groomsmen
1 Main centerpiece for the food tabel
12 center pieces ($20 a piece)
plus delivery and set up.

The flowers I want are Stargazer lillies (only in my bouqet and the main centerpiece), roses, peonies (only a pew since they are expensive) gerber dasies, carnations and hydrangeas. my colors are pink and green

I'm only doing my bouquet, and the boutineers real. The bridesmaids will be silk. I'm doing mine real b/c everyone will be looking at it and the boutineers will be a eye level. I did my sisters bridesmaids bouquets and everyone thought it was real. I know how costly flowers are and have found allot of alternatives to stay on budget. You have to find really good silk flowers, Michaels has really improved their silk flowers. If you have to touch it, then it has my okay.
