Cake and Flowers
Some New Decisions Made!
We have finalized our cake design! It will look like the picture to the left, only the beading and scroll design will be done in a cream/ivory color and there will be less green hydrangeas. The cake will be a pound cake with buttercream icing!
We haven't picked our florist yet, but in talking to a few I have decided on my bouquet and most of the ceremony and reception flowers! My girls will carry small bouquets of light blue hydrangeas. I will carry a slightly larger round bouquet of white roses and stephanotis. There will be flowers on the center aisle chairs and on the archway that we will be married under. Our centerpieces will be simple hydrangea bouquets. And we are also getting some flowers for the escort card table and the bathrooms. Also, a couple weeks ago we booked our DJ! And, my Fiance's mom said she would take care of booking our hotel room sometime in the next couple of weeks! |

Wedding Dress
I never expected choosing a dress would be this difficult!
So...I did it. I picked my dress. The deposit is made, there's no turning back. I don't know about anyone else, but I can honestly say that picking my wedding dress was the hardest decision I have ever made in my life. I was also unprepared for how personal and private a process choosing THE dress would be. I ended up standing in the dressing room alone in the dresses processing all of my thoughts. After picturing my dad's reaction (ironically, not my fiance's) to the two dresses I had narrowed it down to, I finally decided on this Mon Cheri dress, only I purchased it in white rather than ivory. Since the sample dress was 8 sizes too big and in a different color, I'm really just dying to be able to put on MY dress in a few months when it comes in. I don't regret my decision, so I know I made the right one!
On another note, the countdown is now down to 10 months, 26 days. And, I will be florist shopping and cake testing over the next two weeks! |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
My Wedding Band
I finally decided on a wedding band. It is modest and simple, but it looks perfect with my engagement ring (which is just a simple diamond)! I wish I could wear it now! ;)

Wedding Invitation
I Made Our First Invitation!
I am so excited about how it turned out! The hardest part was finding fonts that didn't look tacky or unprofessional. I really wanted the invitations to be simple, classy, and fresh; I think this first one turned out to be exactly that!
It's hard to see in the picture, but if you click on the picture you can see a larger version! I still have to practice cutting the design on the bottom; it's a little off, but I know the pattern will fit perfectly if I start the cutout in a bit further. |

Wedding Planner
Who needs one?
I got a wedding planner - the knot's "My Wedding Planner," that is! It's exactly what I needed, especially because I can add my own pages. I absolutely love their wedding planning collection!

Color Scheme
Change of Plans!
My fiance will be commissioning in May in the new blue Army uniform, rather than in the old green uniform. Thus, our color scheme has changed from yellow and green to yellow and blue. I'm hoping to put the bridesmaids in very pale yellow and the groomsmen in khaki's. I will probably carry a bouquet of blue hydrangea flowers and the centerpieces will be hydrangeas. That's the plan, at least for now!

His Wedding Band
We got his wedding band already! It looks great on him, and he's extremely excited about it; it's really very adorable! :) We are also thinking of getting an inscription done on our rings, maybe "Army Strong" or something along those lines.

Ask a Question: To be seen or not to be seen?
I tried on my first wedding dress!!
I tried on a dress in Jessica McClintock. I wanted to see what I could find in the lower price range before I look at $1000 dresses (plus, I love the idea of wearing Jessica McClintock since I did a project in high school where I got to do a phone interview with her!). Anyway, I would be perfectly happily with this dress (well, a small train might be nice). I am going to really start dress shopping next summer, but I'll keep this one in mind.
I showed my FH and he loved it. I personally have no problem with my fiance seeing the dress or pictures of me in it before I walk down the aisle. His opinion is important to me. I just don't want him to see the whole package the day off (make-up, hair, dress, shoes, etc). What about you? To be seen or not to be seen? |

Our Venue!
The Valley Green Inn
What better way to start off this blog than with the location at which I will begin my married life with the love of my life? So here it is - our venue! I'll walk on an aisle runner to the edge of the Wissahickon Creek, we'll exhange vows to the tune of flowing water and chirping birds, and we'll celebrate the start of our happily ever after on a darling cobblestone patio!
Taking inspiration largely from the location, as well as from my own style, I've chosen a few keywords which describe the atmosphere I hope to create: fresh, young, classy, and simple. We have just under two years to plan our perfect day. I think that this blog just became my new best friend! ;) |
