Ask a Question: To be seen or not to be seen?
I tried on my first wedding dress!!

I tried on a dress in Jessica McClintock. I wanted to see what I could find in the lower price range before I look at $1000 dresses (plus, I love the idea of wearing Jessica McClintock since I did a project in high school where I got to do a phone interview with her!). Anyway, I would be perfectly happily with this dress (well, a small train might be nice). I am going to really start dress shopping next summer, but I'll keep this one in mind.

I showed my FH and he loved it. I personally have no problem with my fiance seeing the dress or pictures of me in it before I walk down the aisle. His opinion is important to me. I just don't want him to see the whole package the day off (make-up, hair, dress, shoes, etc). What about you? To be seen or not to be seen?

first of all, you look beautiful in your dress...i see why you would want your fiance to see it!  although i am not supersticious, or a follower of tradition, i am waiting to show my fiance my dress, mainly to keep the element of surprise.  i agree, it's not the same as seeing the hair, makeup, etc. all together, but i personally want him to leave everything to the imagination until i meet his eyes at the end of the aisle.

I've actually dragged him shopping with me before so that i could get an idea of what he does and doesn't like. Obviously, everything I thought was pretty, he hated. But thats okay- we found compromise in a simple dress with only a couple of striking details. I haven't bought my dress yet, and I'm still looking around, but now I have an idea of what he would like. I'm not really too bothered about him seeing the dress- i've even contemplated maybe getting all the photos out of the way before the ceremony so that we can actually enjoy our cocktail hour. He'd rather wait though- he wants the surprise of seeing me walk down the aisle.

I really love that dress- what's the style number? actually- its the neckline that I adore. I wonder if you could order it with extra length & get a tailor to cut a train?

I love the top of that dress on you! As far as my fiance seeing me in the dress, I dont think I will let him see me.  Just like gratefulbride, it's not superstitious, I just like how he sounds when he talks about what he thinks I will look like on the day...its actually kind of funny.  He thinks he knows me so well that he knows the style of dress I like without me telling him (I dont tell him but he's right, he knows what I like).  Good luck dress shopping, I just started and its fun!

Holy smokes, how pretty! It's funny, whenever I first started dress hunting, this was at the top of my list...small world! I totally understand wanting to show the FH the dress. I wanted to show him mine, but he refused! He was almost MAD at me for asking! We are a couple that doesn't wait until birthdays and holiday's to gift eachother, so I didn't think this would be any different. I was WRONG! :)
