Ask a Question
What do you do with your weddig dress after the wedding?
I have got 2 wedding dresses sitting in my closet for the last 2+ years. It's taking up too much space but I don't want to sell them. Does anyone know a good local (Vancouver, BC) or online wedding dress preservation company?

Appreciate your suggestions! Thanks

Besides preserve, here is what I've heard. My sister went to someone's house and they bought a manaquin w/o a head and displayed her dress on it in one of the rooms.

The other "new" thing, not sure I'm a fan, but you can research it. It's called destroying the dress. Ex: photographer takes a pic of bride (obviously after wedding) in dress, infront of trees, pond, pool, ect. and next shot is bride rolling in mud, action shot before jumping in water, ect. Even setting fire to it!!!! Some brides are actually loving this idea!

Or donate it!

I think I'll keep it but only if I don't get a good price for it. In Hungary they don't sell my dress and a couple of the wedding shops already asked me to bring it in as it's so unusual. So, we'll see.

There is a wedding dress consignment store in Langley on Fraser hwy...info on the store below. They sell used wedding dresses. So basically you give them your dress and they sell it for you. You get part of the profit when it sells and so do the store for selling it for you. I'm sure if the dress is in good condition you could get a bit of money for it. Better than "destroying the dress" I think but it's up to you.

sorry I read your blog too quick, I thought it said you wanted to sell them. oops.

If you go to any drycleaner they should be able to tell you if they do the cleaning and packaging for wedding dresses. Also check with bridal shops because some of them do the cleaning and packaging of the dresses too.
