Ask a Question
Why do people sell there used items for almost the same price they purchased them for?

I know like most of us, we are all on a budget. But why do people expect to sell things for almost the same price they purchased them at. I always look on the market place for things because i am on a very tight budget, but when the item with shipping comes out to the same as purchsing it new.... it makes no sence.

I am not singling anyone.... but it has happend many times.
When I do put all my things for sale I promise to put them at 50% or less then what I paid. Because its common sence your not going to get what you paid for it.

I dont want to fight or start any problems... I just want people to understand that if we are buying it used its because we cant afford it new.

Please forgive me if a offended anyone.. or I sound mean or whatever.
I am just venting!!!
Thanks girls
God Bless

I understand what yuou mean my thought isyou can sale you stuff at a discount but if you are not within local area the shipping is gonna get you. So its not fair to say well i wanted your candy buffet that you paid 200 dollars for for 100 dollars ( the discount price)  and the shipping is gonna be expensive like almost 100, its not the owners fault that it comes out to be the same price, you get me?......you have to pay for shipping the items that you want, the owner prices the item at a discount but if your buying something that is heavy or big be prepared to pay for shipping...the owner doesnt make the shipping price....although some jerks do add on a coupleof dollars to pocket!!

I think its just really hard for people to accept that they paid $1500 for and wore once that they will prob only get like $300 for it. And so on haha. Or sometimes they never even used the item at all and its brand new and they just dont understand. Its hard but your right...you can just get it new lol

I agree with you shipping cost  and not so low prices make it hard for brides looking for good deals.

You're not mean at all. I thought there was a cardinal unwritten rule of selling for a good deal.

I understand what you are saying, but I'm the type of person that's not afraid to ask if they would take less or make them an offer. I have a few things on my post I'm trying to sell and would love for people to make an offer.

I tried to mark them at a decent price but sometimes  you don't know what other would pay for certain things. So people would buy things for any amount of money whereas other people would NEVER think it...so my advance it never hurts to ask if they'd take less.

It's just natural to try to get the most from it.  Most people sell stuff to try to make at least a little money back.  If you ask for what you want and no one makes an offer then  you can work your way down till someone wants it.  If someone is willing to buy it for close to what you paid then good for the seller.  If no one wants it then they will probably lower the price.  It's all about supply and demand.  If people want it bad enough they'll pay for it.

YES!!!! And this isn't about WBC brides (in my case) cause I've never really noticed this but I get annoyed when EBAY sellers do this. I always find stuff on ebay for the same price or more than the original in the stores (so same concept). Silly.

I understand-- most sites I have gotten free shipping so it would make sence for me to purchase it from some brides.

For example: I was going to by tablecloths that cost $10. New they would cost mw $12 with free shipping and the bride said Hell No to lowering the price.

I guess it is natural to get as much as you can for the item... but dont expect the price you paid for it.

thanks ladies for listening.
