Five More Days... The Countdown Continues!
Less than a week and the pressure is on!
There is still a lot to do, but I’ve got the love and support of so many of my family and friends that’s incredible. I think yesterday I finally let myself get a little bit excited!
AND….
Today we got our Marriage License!!!!!

Long story short, we both thought we had to have tons of documents so we waited until everything came in. Then we went down to the courthouse yesterday, only to find out it will be closed until Tuesday May 29th – TOO LATE!
So we drove way out to the next county to get the license and it was closed :-(

We went back today and all we needed was our drivers licenses – LOL! But we’ve got to wait 3 days before we can get married. But we made it in by (1) day.

HOORAY!!!!!

Wedding Dress
Don't Forget the Hanger!
You know I’m on the bandwagon with this one! I have loved these hangers since I first saw them in another bride’s wedding gown photograph. And I just had to get one of my own for the wedding.
As a semi-professional wedding photog, I invested in a sturdy satin hanger to use on the wedding gowns because it was an afterthought for a lot of brides to invest in a pretty hanger for their gowns photo session. I knew it was important to have something special and pretty to hang the Dress on so -

My “Mrs. Carpenter” hanger came in the mail on Saturday and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT! I ordered from etsy.com ($22 with shipping) and got to pick the color of the wood and wire. And it’s also a keepsake that I can keep long after the Dress is gone.

DIY Custom Totes for the Ladies!
This weekend I made tote bags and blinged-out flip flops for my bridesmaids. I plan to put the following in each bag:
-flip flops (Dollar Tree) & Bling from Michaels
-Bling Bracelet (Saveology.com find)
-deodorant (Dollar Tree)
-chap stick (Dollar Tree)
-Wisp disposable toothbrush/mouthwash (Dollar Tree)
-tissue (Dollar Tree)
-hand sanitizer (Dollar Tree)
-lotion (Dollar Tree)
-Mani-Pedi nail kit (Michaels)

I also couldn’t resist the urge to make my own bag and add some extra Bling to it since my tiffany blue crocs didn’t get the Bling treatment – LOL.

In celebration of "Our Sweet Day" I'm surprising Mr. C. with a cookie bar! His favorite dessert - cookies!

I couldn't resist these cookie cufflinks from eBay. Just came in the mail. Definitely not a cookie-cutter gift – Lol. Cheesy, but cute!

COUNDOWN - 9 DAYS & Projects To Do!
Got a big blow and a little bit of anxiety yesterday knowing that we are less than 2 weeks away from the big day. Although I'm excited, its very daunting to think that I have to put all of this together is 8 days. But when I got home my FH had a worse day than I did and ended up comforting him more than he comforted me.
Long story short, me saying what I already knew about us getting married is the most important part - not all the hoopla and other things going on around us. We can’t change what other people do or what goes on we can only live our lives and know that everything is part of God’s plan for us.
We both needed that little reminder because no matter what happens, we will still have one another.
I think our co-pep talks worked really well and we got a little diversion therapy because the 4,000 rose petals (forgot to take a photo, sorry) I ordered from China on ebay for $20 (with free shipping) came in yesterday and we separated them while we chatted. It wasn’t really all that bad and I think it helped that we had a mindless task to complete.
I also made up 25 “Tears of Joy” packets (forgot photo again, I’m slacking) before we went to bed. I printed up labels with regular mailing labels, Avery 5160. Bought 6 packs of individually wrapped tissues, and 2-12 packs of clear, medium sized lollipop bags. I put 3-4 tissues in each bag, folded the bag over and used the label to hold it shut. I’m going to put out 20 in the chairs at church for the ceremony and add the rest to the tote bags for my girls.
I promise I’ll post pictures of all the little projects that I keep completing. I was just a little pre-occupied yesterday :)

Side note - Today I’m getting a much needed last minute addition to the wedding – I’m so excited. I can’t post it, but it’s going to be great! Hopefully it fits (hint). I’m going to pick it up from DHL Today! So things are looking up on Day 9. Not sure how the day is going to end, but it off to an excellent start.

DIY Boutonnieres & Corsages DONE!
Must first say that I don't do flowers so this is all new to me. However, I'm a budget bride so I went to the store and snooped out how these were pre-made and copied their ideas :-)

I made 3 boutonnieres for the FH, bestman and groomsman.
I also made 2 Corsages for the mother of the bride and groom.

Per a bee's request - here's how I made them:

Supplies:
- Floral tape from Dollar Tree
- Green Floral wire from Michaels
- (2) open rose stems from Michaels
- (2) budding rose bushes from AC Moore
- left over seed stems from a bush I bought at Walmart
- pack of button clasps from Joanns, optional (may use pins)
- Wire cutters – optional, but helpful

For the corsages I just cut the stem on the rose, slightly bent the head forward and took one of the leaf branches and added it to the back. I used the floral tape to attach the leaf branch to the rose and overlapped it several times to secure it. I then took some floral wire (approx 3 inches) centered it and wrapped it around the rose stem once (tight as possible). I then took each end of the wire, looped it thru the holes in the opened button clasp, wrapped the wire around a few times and twisted the leftovers together (cut off any extra). I didn't want to use hot glue, but you could. I then finished the look by adding floral tape to the entire stem and covered as much of the stem as I could.

The boutonnieres were trickier than the corsages. After cutting them down, I used (2) slightly bent budding roses for each boutonniere and used floral tape to secure them together. I then took some floral wire (approx 3 inches) and wrapped it around the roses near the top of the stem (for stability get as high as you can, but can still cover with tape and not be seen).
Next I took each end of the wire, looped it thru the holes in the opened button clasp, wrapped the wire around a few times and twisted the leftovers together and covered the button clasp with floral tape. (Be sure not to cover either end of the clasp with tape, you can also eliminate the clasp and opt for floral pins)
Next I secured a leaf branch toward the middle of the rose stem. To hold it in place I used a thin dab of hot glue and then secured it with floral tape. Then I added the seed stems with a little more tape and completed the entire look by giving all the stems a last coat with floral tape.

The hard part is getting the floral wire around all the stems without twisting the stems around. I had this issue and found that using 4-5 inches of floral tape helps when you are adding pieces. You can also try to twist the flowers and leaves back into place, but I did have to cut off one clasp and re-attach it.

The entire project took about an hour and a half. Not too bad.

Countdown!
Only 10 days until the wedding and 5 more days of work, counting today!

HOORAY - I'm becoming a bit wedding obsessed and will be completely relieved that I can stop dreaming about the perfect bouquet, my hair, the dresses, the towncars and on and on...

Literally, I wake up from dreams where I lost the ring, the card doesn't arrive, the dress gets crushed/dirty in the back of the towncar etc. So even though I'm asleep, I'm not getting much rest :(

I'm also looking forward to becoming a Mrs.! We are both excited, not to mention can't wait to get on with the HONEYMOON!

Wedding Decoration
My Hobby Lobby Letdown
This past weekend we went to Hobby Lobby after several people told me that it was “A MUST” when planning my wedding. So after the issues with the flowers I decided to take a trek over to the other side of town (I was already there for a birthday party) and see just all the hoopla was over Hobby Lobby.

Well it was a HUGE disappointment. Needless to say that after we left we walked down 3 stores to Dollar Tree and found the flowers I needed for what it would have cost to purchase 2 stems from Hobby Lobby.

Don’t get me wrong, the selection was nice, the stems and florals where incredibly realistic, but $9.99 for (1) rose stem seems a bit unrealistic to me. Especially when I will be using an excess of 400-500 of them for my wedding. Not to mention all the other floral décor that will be needed.

We did look at home décor selection and the crafts too. It was all very high quality and priced comparably, but I noticed that the floral & wedding department was a bit overpriced compared to other craft stores and rental places.

Now I’m a self-admitted bargain shopping who hates to pay retail for anything. But even my nemesis Michaels fares better when it comes to price points.

So I think I’ll keep Hobby Lobby in my back pocket for when I want to search for a few key pieces for interior decorating. Not a huge production like a wedding. For what they were charging I could have all real flowers at the wedding :(

Has anyone had success with Hobby Lobby?

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
The Bands are Here!
My band finally came in the mail yesterday (FH has been in for weeks) and I am really pleased! It is perfect match to my engagement ring and exactly what I wanted because you can still see all the bling on the front and back of my ring. FH wasn’t very happy. He thought it would be bigger. Don’t’ know why, but I love it!

I suggested that we could get another band to go on the other side and add a little extra bling. So maybe… can’t knock a girl for tryin’ :)

My band came from an Amazon.com dealer (diamonds9) white gold and diamonds!

His came from AXJewelry, tungsten and diamonds for his bling!

We found out about tungsten while buying his suit from the mens wearhouse. The salesman's ring was made of tungsten and he informed us about hour durable it is and that he really liked how comfortable it was to wear and that it scratch resistant and easy to take care of.

Custom Wedding Party Tote Designs
(GREEN IS ACTUALLY TIFFANY BLUE)

I'm getting each girl a tote filled with a blinged out t-shirt, flip flops an emergency kit and few other things from me. But I'm on a budget and have opted for a DIY tote.

Got the bags 3 for $9.99 at Michaels & used that 40% off coupon. I created these custom logos for the totes to print on iron-on transfers which I already have at home.

So customization is FREE!

I'm also adding a Blinged out "Bride" Iron-on to mine above my name! Got it from AC Moore for $2

***** UPDATE *****

tweeked them a little more today. Made the background pattern larger. I plan on making them tonight, if I don't fall asleep. When I do, Ill post photos.
