We are down to just over 50 days before the wedding and past weekend Mr. C and I combined households and officially moved in
together. We got a house with enough space for everyone, my 3 girls (9, 11 &19), his daughter (10), 2 dogs and a fish. I especially love the new walk in closet that holds ALL of the wedding stuff and my travel brochures too.
You really do find out a lot about someone when you go through something major (like moving) with them.Most of his things were in storage. He’s a guy who didn’t have a household to haul with him I had an 1100 square foot apartment crammed full to the brim with over 2000 square feet worth of stuff from my old house.
Long story short it was a bit trying for both of us. He helped me pack and style is WAY different from mine. I prefer to organize and plan what goes into each box, where he just packs whatever's closest to him in each room AND pack each extra-large box that he brought so that no one but him could move it!
-OK, enough venting. Pety things aside this is a new experience for both of us. We are both in our thirties, comfortable living alone and running our own households. We have had several conversations about how we plan do make things work and had a few discussions with the kids so they would know what to expect. But our styles differ here too.
I know its going to be a learning curve for everyone. I really believe that communication is the key. Even though over the past few days we have both been grumpy, the other always to try make the time and talk about the issue at hand. What I need to work on is learning how to tell him when I need my space. We both also need to learn how to ask and recieve help.
