So over the past 2 nights Ive lost precious sleep working on my brooch bouquet, but I think it will be worth it. Ive almost completed the first phase of the process.
Yesterday, all but one of the china brooches I ordered came in as well as an eBay order I placed for 3 brooches. The seller added in an extra brooch, sweet! So now Im only waiting on 2 more to come in the mail. But I figure I can move ahead to the next step because I may not need them.
Last night I added the floral wire to this batch of brooches and used the last of my craft wire to create stems for 6 of them. So Ill be making another trip to Dollar Tree for 2 more rolls.
Also, Friday night after I put the stems on the first batch I created a mock bouquet just so I could get an idea of what the bouquet might look like. Im kinda happy with the colors and amount of bling. But I am glad that I ordered a few more brooches because they may not all work out in the final product. I also realized (after the fact) that the brooch is half pink/half white. I plan on mixing them up.
So whats next I need to wrap the tops of each stem up with floral tape and then move on the added the hydrangea to the Styrofoam ball. Although I may try to style the brooches in the 3 bushes of hydrangea first to see if that will work.
Oh, since the move I cant find my glue gun, found the glue sticks, but no gun go figure. I see another trip to Michaels in my future. I may break down and buy the overpriced craft wire from there too.
**********UPDATE*************
Got the 16 gauge pre-cut floral wire wrapped in thread from Michaels to complete the last of the stems. I like that much better! You don't have to cut it and since the wire isn't exposed,it's easier to work with and doesn't poke you all the time.
