So I too have made a DIY Card holder box. Mine is inspired by Tiffany’s infamous blue boxes. So they had to be square. Lucky for me I found a 95% paint color match on clearance at Michaels a few months back, before I even had a project. But I knew I’d use it somehow.
I also found the large square boxes online at Woodcrafters. The circular hat boxes are everywhere but I couldn’t find the square ones locally. I got a total of 6 boxes and only used 3.
Back in February I began by cutting the holes, I painted the boxes without too many issues. Then I packed them away. Now I can see a few areas where the paint soaked into the cardboard and now I have a few cracked areas. Guess I’ll have to do a few touchups.
Assembly and adding the white ribbon was pretty easy. Glue gun to the rescue. I did opt to put the top box on with 2-sided tape so that it stores and transports easily. But the tricky part was adding the blue ribbon around the opening. I didn’t want to use the glue gun because the ribbon needed to lay flat. A mixture of Super Glue and Elmer’s glue did the trick.
The only thing left is to add the white bow on the top. However, since the move I can’t find it. Hope it turns up before the wedding.
