The flowers from Afloral.com and SilkFlowersFactory.com via EFavorMart.com came in yesterday! So I finally got started on my floral arrangement plans.
Afloral was a bit of a disappointment because the quality of the prearranged flowers wasnt the best and the peonies I ordered were a little mis-shapened from the way they were packed, with just packing paper on top of them. They got a bit crushed :( But I like the color and I think they will fit well at the bottom of my Brooch Bouquet still have to redo it.
Im going to break up the bouquets and add some hydrangea from Michaels to bulk them up a bit. If that doesnt work, Ill probably get them real flowers from Winn-Dixie. Thats right, the grocery store. Every time I go in there they have the most beautiful budget floral arrangements. This week they added real pink peonies - 3 for $9.99. They also have giant hydrangea stems for $5.99. So for $16.00 they could have real flowers. I did try to research where they get their flowers from, but its FBI classified or something.
Efavormart flowers are from the silk flowers factory, both are owned and operated Ya Ya Creations. The flowers were as expected, inexpensive silk flowers. I wish they had taken the time to pack my order in a larger box or use 2 boxes because the blooms where crushed on almost all of them. My biggest disappointment was the carnations. There is no way the blooms are 2 inches long (as stated in the description) and a lot of them had the flower glued to an adjoining stem. Since these are what Im using to make my kissing balls, they worked out just fine. Ill just have to stretch them to cover the entire foam ball Im leaving room to carve out a hole in the bottom for stability. I also make pick up a couple pink flowers from the Dollar Tree to cover the bottom so people dont see the foam underneath when they are on the table. I plan on using them for the ceremony and reception see my inspiration picture for ceremony idea.
I was able to squeeze 2 balls out of 1 bag of carnations. So I will be able to cover 4 balls per order of 252 blooms. There is also a piece of wire going up 1 bloom on each stem, so I had to break out my wire cutters. . I found that swirling the bloom around upside down on my pant leg helped to open the bloom back up after its trip in the mail. Im not a flower person, so all of this is new to me, lol.
The rose buds are ok. Im going to use them to create 2 huge topiaries up at the altar on the church stage. They have veins running through the stems, which gives them a more realistic look. But they were also crushed. Ill have to do a lot of fluffing to get the coverage I need.
The mums were the big surprise. They look the most realistic out of all the flowers from silkflowersfactory.com. And come close to the peonies from Afloral. Ive still got to fluff them up, but they look great- excuse my bad iphone flash photography. I wish I would have ordered the pink mums for the kissing balls. But Im making do with what Ive got.
Overall, not a bad haul from Silk Flowers Factory for $122 and $46 from Afloral. And that includes the foam balls for $2 each and 4 oval mirrors. I did use a coupon for Afloral and got free shipping and 10% off efavormarts website.
well because its tradition to have them at weddings. We are doing so many things non-traditional, that I didn't want to be too far in left field lol. Plus my mother would probably freak out.
