Ok – so this isn’t exactly a DIY, because I recruited the best Future Husband EVER - The kind that makes floral arrangements and centerpieces. I also got a bit of help from my stepdad Friday night.
They both signed up to help make the pomanders this weekend and did a pretty good job. The first one my FH did kind of resembled a cone head, but he has significantly improved since then. Now he’s thinking up ways to turn our wedding into a business venture. I think I may have created a monster, or a future David Tutera, but he claims he’ll never wear the pink shirts or ties – lol.
He also jumped in this weekend and made 12 centerpieces. I made a prototype for him to follow and he knocked them out while I made dinner. I had to veto him on the leaf issue. I didn’t like the leaves that were attached to the silk flowers, but he did. They did not look real at all, more like green tissue paper with threads hanging all over.
I do think he rather enjoyed sitting in our office/wedding production room “creating with flowers.” Although he did mention a few times that he felt like a slave and needed to be compensated. I figure that’s what you get when you tell everyone that you’re all ready to get married and everything on your end is done – lol.
FH prepped all the foam balls to sit on the vases. He also cut most of the flower stems for me and put together the coat racks that I’m going to use to make 2 huge topiaries for the ceremony. That will be this weekend’s DIY project, somewhere in between my new step daughter’s birthday party and mother’s day. I also have to rework my brooch bouquet, but I that will have to save that for when FH goes to sleep around 9:30pm.
With 20 days left, the list just keeps getting longer…
