The Jewelry
pretty and traditional vs fun and funky... I want it both!
This was exactly the kind of jewelry I was looking for! I may just wear the necklace or just the earrings, depending on the hair.
I LOVE the fun/funky look of the black beads in the second pic (my dress will also have a black sash like the one in the pic). Just not so much for the ceremony. So again I was thinking of changing for the reception. Taking off the necklace in the 1st pic and putting on some black beads. I also thought it might work well if I end up putting my hair up in a messy chignon for the reception (see the last post). Any thoughts? I may carry the beads over to the bridesmaids as well. Since they will all have different dresses and the necklace may not look as good with all the styles, I was thinking of a couple black beaded bracelets tied together with a black and white polka dot ribbon (to tie in the theme)... so much to think about! |

Wedding Hair Style
Sooo indecisive!
OK so I've gotten so much accomplished, but when it comes to what I will be wearing and how I want my hair to be, I cannot decide.
At first thought I wanted my hair down like the last 2 pictures. But then I started thinking that at the reception I'm going to want my hair up and out of the way. So I found 3 updo styles I loved. I also came across the second picture which could be a good compromise, half up half down. Since the wedding is at the beach, I def don't want anything too stuffy. I am loving the messy yet neat look (if that makes any sense!). Is anyone changing their hair after the ceremony for the reception? I don't know how I would do it but I've been thinking about wearing my hair down for the ceremony and then after pix have been taken, putting it up in a messy chignon (like the 1st pic). Suggestions? |

Wedding Decoration
Floral Design for the ceremony
My florist is recreating these HUGE gerbera pomander's for the ceremony. They will be solid red gerber daisies placed in a red square box. I'm going to put the whole arrangement on two stone pillars that will stand on both sides of Jordan and I.
After the ceremony, I'm going to reuse them for the reception. I'm thinking of placing the arrangements on the gift table, buffet table, or keeping them on the pillars and putting one on both sides of the head table to frame it. The arrangements are def not cheap, but they will be so pretty and modern I think they will be well worth it. (especially since we are saving on the centerpieces!) |

Rentals
Really? How much?!?
This has been quite a busy, but very successful week of planning! Thank goodness for spring break and a week off from teaching :)
My mom, grandmother, and I got quite alot done. -Book the florist... check -order cocktail napkins...check -book the rehearsal dinner site...check -sort through all the many details... check -order the rentals such as chairs, chair covers, column, etc.... not so good! I had no idea that just the chairs (for the ceremony) and chair covers and sashes (for the reception) would be at least $8 per person! WOW! Not to mention all the linens for the tables, the columns for the ceremony, and anything else we decide that we need. I love the look of the chair covers and sashes, but is it worth it for the price? After talking to my mom about it, we decided... actually she told me they are a MUST (and since she is paying for it, I can't really disagree!) So does anyone know of a place I can get them for cheaper than $5? HELP! |

Ceremony Details
Barclay Towers
The ceremony will be done by Jordan's dad, aka Reverand Meek haha. Since it is overlooking the beach we will be having a sand ceremony instead of unity candles. During the sand ceremony Jordan's cousin/bridesmaid Kristen will be singing "God Blessed the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts.

Rehearsal Dinner
at Rockafeller's Restaurant
Rockafeller's overlook's Rudee Inlet at Virginia Beach, VA. It is blocks from the ceremony/reception site which makes it very convienient.
The banquet room is located upstairs with an outside deck which opens up to the inlet. |

Wedding Decoration
for the Reception
I found the guest book on ebay. Even the pen is polka dot!
The guest tables will be draped in white fabric. With white chair covers and a black ribbon around the chair. The centerpieces were DIY. We got the red gerbera's, beargrass, and red vases at Michael's. The vases are filled with crystals and tied with a black and white polka dot ribbon. The black metal placemats were found at Pier 1. Crystal's will be sprinkled on the tables to give it some sparkle. Since it is a buffet the plates will not be on the tables, instead the treat boxes (black and white polka dot boxes filled with homemade white and dark chocolate-covered strawberries), red mints, and napkins will be on the tables. I like the way the black napkins look, but haven't decided what color yet. I also like the idea of a red head table so that it will stand out and give it some "wow factor." The bouquets will decorate the head table. Since mine is white I think it will stand out very well against the red. |
