crystal tree
Here's the current version of the crystal tree my FH is making. Its probably about 3/4 done. We plan on putting about double the amount of beads, and adding a light blue ribbon around the base to finish it off. Do you ladies think it needs anything else? Thanks.

We went to JoAnne fabric this weekend and picked up supplies to decorate our arch with. It was pretty simple to make, and cost effective too.

Centerpieces
I went to AC Moore last week, and they had a lot of flowers on sale. I was also able to get a bunch of glass candle holders off of craigslist for super cheap. The bottles my FMIL made, she sells them sometimes at craft fairs as cheese boards, and said we'd be able to use them for the wedding instead. We've been using these to put together a couple of ideas for centerpieces. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Sorry the pictures are a little faded, they were taking with a cell phone.

Will you be my bridesmaid cards
I finally broke down and made these yesterday. Not because I haven't already asked most of my wedding party, but b/c I've been neglecting to ask my FSIL. We don't get to see each other too often, and whenever we do it just never seems to come up. So, since I'm making one for her, I figured I'd do one for the rest of my girls too.

I bought all the supplies at Michael's. They have a pretty good deal on paper this week (some were 7 pieces for $1). I ran the card stock thru the printer, and then cut little dresses out the paper to glue on them. I finished them off with precut paper flowers and some self-adhesive jewels. I think they turned out pretty good.

The wording, in case your interested is:

For most -

I know I’ve asked you this question once before,
And I’m pretty sure of what your answer will be!
With so much going on,
I thought it would still be nice to ask you officially!

You’ve been such a close friend over the years,
I don’t know what I’d do without you in my life!
Now that our wedding day is rapidly approaching,
I just can’t imagine having anyone else by my side!

XXX...Will you be my Bridesmaid ?

For FSIL -

The Day, the Dress
The Bride, the Groom
The Joy, the Tears will all come soon

Confessing true love to my husband-to-be
with family and friends all watching me
Pray the sun will be shining down
and that i will fit into my gown

Now there is just one more thing that is left to be and that’s to have you standing with me...

XXX, will you be my bridesmaid?

For our niece the flower girl -

When I was just a little girl,
About the same size as you,
I dreamed one day I’d fall in love
And then get married, too!
So now that I am all grown up,
And about to be a bride,
I want you to be our flower girl
So you can be right by our side!
It is fairly common knowledge that
A wedding is just not complete,
Without a pretty little flower girl
Like you, who’s so dear and so sweet!

XXX will you be our Flower Girl?

brides against breast cancer
Found the perfect dress today al while donating to the perfect cause. Philly hosted a brides against breast cancer event this weekend. It really is a great organization. They take dresses donated from boutiques + individuals and sell them to new brides. The money from the sales goes to granting wishes for breast cancer patients. The people who work the events all donate their time and are all super nice and super helpful. It really was a great time.

A little more about the dress. It's satin, with a fitted bodice and an a-line skirt. Its got gorgeous 2" beading along the bustline and the waist. The back has a line of buttons and a chapel train. There's also a beading motif on the bottom of the train. Its absolutely gorgeous on.

I tried to use the picture from the website, but it was locked, so I could only get a screenshot of the whole page. Sorry

Save the dates - update
I got the save the dates in the mail today. They look AWESOME. Vista print did a really great job. No extra logos, which was my biggest fear. And the price wasn't too much in the end. 100 cost us $20.16, with the shipping. They did nickel and dime a bit. It costs extra to load your own image, extra for color, those sorts of things. But with the cheaper shipping option I'd have to say I'm pleased.

Thanks again for the great suggestions ladies.

Save the dates
We're trying to design out save the dates. I got this really cute idea from the Martha Stewart wedding website. They suggest sending out postcards with an old-fashioned map on the one side, and the wedding details on the other.

We finally found a map both of us can agree on, and I got the fiancee to make a monogram to put in the bottom, where the legend used to be. (The blurring doesn't look too bad when I printed test copies, but it may be worrisome later.)

I'm also undecided how to mark the location of the wedding site on the front of the map. Any suggestions?

Here's the original idea website: http://www.marthastewartweddings.com/photogallery/save-the-date-ideas#slide_7

BTW - we were planning on using vistaprint to print out the post-cards. They supposedly have a deal where they'll print you 100 cards for free. I haven't figure out what the catch is yet though. (They probably charge of ton of shipping instead.)

Blue Finally Starting

Finally Starting
I've had this blog for about 6 months now, and after checking out everyone else's I figured it was about time I started my own. My fiance and I plan on doing a lot of the prep work and a lot of DIY for this wedding ourselves, so maybe I can be of some help to other brides.

I'm usually really bad about posting to these kinds of things, but I figure I'll at least try to post the bigger accomplishments.
