Diaries of a Chubby Chick
Introduction

Well, it's that time of the season..wedding season that is, for me to start losing some weight. I've been this height since I was seriously in grade 5 or so and this weight since about grade 8. I'll lose a bunch of weight and then gain it all back. All I've been able to do in a year is lose roughly about 3 pounds.

My weight right now is at 162.6 lbs and I'm thinking I would really like to be down to about 140 or less. I'm not even sure what an ideal weight is for somebody my age and height. I don't want to lose too much weight because all my life I have been chubby so I think it would look pretty funny.

I really want to feel beautiful on our big day and I really want to turn heads and make everybody say "wow, she looks amazing" and I feel that if I don't lose a bit of weight that I won't feel that way even though I already know that everybody that is in the church will still say those things. I'm very self conscious so I really need to do this for myself. I need to feel confident as I walk down the aisle to the man I love.

So, my plan of attack! I have already started doing this but w/e...I'm going to try to not eat anything after 8pm, start using the gym membership that I purchased in like MAY that I have only used a handful of times at least 3 or more times a week, eating healthier which means cutting out ALL sugar. That is going to be that hardest thing for me because I LOVE anything chocolate. I seriously dream about it folks because I haven't had it in so long lol. I just hope I can stick to it! I'll update you ladies as I progress. I want to try to lose a pound a week!

A pound a week is a healthy weight to lose.  I've heard that eating a healthy breakfast works wonders on a diet.  Drink plenty of fruit juices and water when you feel hungry - that way you won't over eat.

Don't cut out chocolate alltogether.  Sometimes it's good to treat yourself, just in moderation.

Good luck!

I think you look great already, but believe me I know how you feel.  Just a suggestion:  I joined Weight Watchers when I hit 185 pounds.  I'm only 5'2", so it was not a good look for me.  Over the span of 4 months I lost 35 lbs.  I felt great and the compliments I was getting from family and friends felt great and kept me motivated.  I had tried dieting on my own and failed numerous times.  I think what I enjoyed most about WW was that I felt like I had someone to answer to each week.  I wanted to show that scale and my meeting leader that I could do it.   You can pretty much eat what you want, just in moderation.  They show you how to eat healthy.  I'm still doing WW and I haven't lost anything lately, but I haven't gained either.  I wish you much success!

ps. - Don't give up on the chocolate, just have some in moderation!  :)

it's a great website.
you track your weight, calories, measurements, and exercise.
it gives you how many calories you should consume in one day for your weight and over the past like 5 days of doing it, i lost three pounds.

i need to lose a a good pound or 30..lol

I am with you I want to lose weight and tone up too the idea of getting into a bathing suit with 40 people I know on vacation with me is a very big incentive also as well as wanting to look the way I want to on my day. I know though that on top of watching what I eat I basically have to get off my ass and do exercise realistically 5 times a week. Do you think an hour a day is enough to lose weight - fast walking for over an hour or an hour exercise dvd which does everything from boxercise, squats, lunges, skipping, sit ups, press ups and cool down exercises. If I mixed it up like doing one one day and the other another it would be enough? I never went to a gym the idea going just freaks me out really any input would be great !

If you are scared to go to the gym then don't.  Do the videos or walking an hour a day and watch what you eat and you'll definitely lose weight.  I worked at  a gym for a year and a half so the thought doesn't really bother me anymore.  It used to. Some days though when I'm feeling really down about the way I look I just work out in the ladies only room.  So happy they have that room!  BUT,  it seems the ladies stare more than the men downstairs in the unisex room.
