Shoes and first fitting
New Shoes
I had my first fitting on June 5. I knew the gown had to be taken in a bit..it's bad when the seamstress demands you not lose more weight-a good thing in my case. I bought the gown almost 2 years ago, glad its too big and not too small. I had bought a new strapless bra, I needed one anyway, but because my gown is heavy form the detail on it I needed a corset style bra. The ones I tried on in stores created a pudge and fat pockets that I dont have so i was anti corset. The dress shop had one and I cannot get over at how well it fits. It gives me the EXTRA lift I need and I'm having them sew in pads for me as well. The bra was a bit pricy, but def worth it-$72! the pads were only $9...I don't need a hem as I had a custom one made and there won't be a charge for my bustle-I hope when I go back on the 25th it doesn't need more alterations. My total was a little over $250, but it is because of the detail on my gown. I did have a little issue with my shoes. When the gown was ordered it came with a custom hem, the shoes I had with me were 3.25". So i went out and bought a fabulous pair that were 3.5". Little did I know that because they are platforms it adds more than just .25 of an inch on to the heel height. I could have been ok with my shoes and toes poking out, but the look on my mom's face told me I had to get new shoes. I have been on a search and finally found a pair on ebay. I bought them today and they are 3"-i tried on a 3"heel at the dress shop so i knew what heel height I had to look for. It kind of sucks because I love my other shoes-I might wear them for the reception or to my bachelorette and there are soo many cute shoes, but they are all over 3" and platforms of course. I couldn't post a pic, but when they arrive I will take a pic and post it

Flips Flops and what not
I was almost done with this post when something happened and I lost everything I wrote.
I was one of those crazy people who attended the flip flop sale. it wasn't that bad-getting up really early on a Saturday was the worst part. I was bummed though because I went to 2 ON's and neither had the color I was looking for. The random purple pair in the picture had flowers on the sole and I wanted all purple. Thankfully I was told that I could exchange them all. Luckily the new shipment was coming in that Tuesday and yes i was there to exchange them all. When at the 2nd ON i saw they had silver, so i grabbed them for my girls. When i went to exchange them i realized what I had bought was grey and they silver they had now was perfect as they are wearing silver shoes too. Of course I had one more pair at home that I thought I was going to keep and then realized I had to exchange. I am thinking of adding a little bling to the girls flips. I also bought a terry cloth capri set for the day of while getting ready and then to use on the honeymoon. i am going to write in crystals on the back of the hoodie 'Mrs. B' and then write on a piece of cloth that I can detach later 'Soon to be'...i saw this either on someone elses' blog or on the internet somewhere-what a great idea! My ON was great and weren't jerks when my friend and I got back in line. She also helped me save a few $$ because she had a bag that has a tag saying you save 10% every time you use it. |

Tuxes
A few weeks back my FH and I went to have his tux fitting. They measured him and i chose about 5 styles for him to try on. They had us come back a week later to try on the styles somewhat in his size. I was hoping for a tails tux, but didn't like the way it looked and you wear it open and not buttoned. I had also hoped for an ascot, but didn't like the shirt that was to be worn with it. We ended up choosing a 4 button style that i think looks really sharp. I went with a multi colored purple tie since there wasn't an exact match to the girls color of their dresses. FH will wear an ivory vest and tie. Dad's will wear black vest and black tie. I have to admit that I got a little pheklempt when FH walked out in his ivory tux
And because FH was a returning customer we got $ taken off the price and i had a coupon for another $20 off each rental. They also have a referral program so if our friends who are getting married in Oct go there and book our guys will get another $5 off their rental. |

random things
I was able to work on my petal cones. of course i did a few, well maybe more than a few and ran out of spray paint. I ended up buying a completely different purple and was given larger doilies from one of my MOH. I love the way they came out. I have ribbon to hang them, but need to figure out how long to cut the ribbon for the pews. I also still have to purchase the petals-not a huge worry. I have read that a few girls dyed them the color they wanted and they came out really well. I might have to do this since Oriental Trading was out of the color I wanted the last time I tried buying them a few weeks ago. I tried keeping them closed with glue and that was a disaster. i ended up buying individually packaged glue dots. There was only one pack left-I am hoping they still carry them because I might need more for other projects. I have a few left over still. They worked great and were on the lines of rubber cement and not the real thin ones that can be a pain to peel off.
I also purchased the bathroom baskets and a few things to go inside. Not much so far. Purple for the girls and green for the boys. is anyone else like me-where if you see something in your color you buy in impulse? Trying to not get out of hand. Another purchase was tool for a trellis my parents have in their yard. i thought would make a few bows and then wrap the trellis with the other color tulle as well. I might decorate their front stairs and banisters inside the house for a little extra decoration. And yes ladies, i bought most of these things at Michaels' one coupon at a time! |

Centerpieces vases, tent decoration etc
A while back I had purchased all of the jars for my centerpieces along with a few smaller ones for the cocktail tables. They were bought at IKEA-what a great store. I was thinking of going back soon as they are a Swedish store and my fiance is Swedish. I thought they may have something unique to put into the OOTBags. I also might save myself the trip considering I have a Swedish store a few miles away.
I also stopped at the Christmas Tree shop not too long ago and picked up some purple lanterns for the hooks on the reception tent. I can't use real candles per the venue, but was thinking of the flameless tealights-they will last longer anyway. I might add a little decoration, raffia ribbon or something and then designate them to specific guests. while at the Christmas Tree Shop I picked up a few other things from their wedding section as well. I was thinking of using the aprons during our cake cutting..just to be prepared for flying cake! |

My girls and I went dress shopping on March 21 and placed the order that day as well. We chose an after six design. The sample dress that everyone liked was in silk and the price was almost $300. I had said no way are you paying that much for a dress. The saleslady told us that we could change the fabric to make it cheaper. Then we were going to go with a different dress that we didn't love and one of my MOH realized that it was a dress that was in the store only in a different fabric. We ended up changing the fabric because of the color I wanted. The dress was made in violet(a deep purple) in iridescent taffeta. The arrived about 1 month later-to my surprise! Better early than late.

My shower is going to be a surprise. I told my girls I didn't want to know anything and can't wait for it because I know they will do a fabulous job. Knowing me I will be invited somewhere and end up showing up in jeans or something. So i decided that I would purhase an outfit and leave it with my mom. That way I know i will have an appropriate outfit no matter what.
I went shopping last week just to look around since all of the spring and summer styles are already out and since I can be a procrastinator I figured while I had the time to go looking around. I found a dress at NY & Co and it would figure that they didn't have my size. I also didn't want to pay the price they wanted for it. Since I knew the size I needed I thought I would be able to buy in online. Whenever my FH makes an online purchase he does a search for online coupon codes-he and I have saved a lot of $ by doing this. Last week the only thing i could find was free shipping on orderes over $65, the dress I wanted is under that. Today I did another search and found a code for $25!! I paid with shipping only $40.90!! Ladies this code expires on 4/1/10. I hope some of you can use it. |

My girls and I went to a local bridal shop and after being there for about 2 hours and having them try on many dresses we finally were able to choose one. The only problem was it didn't come in a shade of purple, so it was back to the drawing board-we kept the first dress and another on hold just in case. After trying on a few more we found another and of course there was another small issue, the price. I am a bargain shopper and there was no way I would have my girls purchase a dress for almost $300-it was because it was silk. Thankfully we were able to find another dress(the one in the pic) that had the neckline I was hoping for and a style that would flatter everyone. So happy to cross this off the list. I had originally thought that it might be too early to order dresses, but they said they would arrive in about 12 weeks so I'm glad I didn't wait

I have had my DJ booked and paid in full for a while now and all I have to say is thank goodness I didn't procrastinate. The price for 4hours went up $500!!!!! So glad I didn't put this off. To those brides who just got engaged or haven't booked your vendors yet, don't wait. Prices change usually after Jan 1 and your best bet is to book early to lock in the price, especially if you like them and they fit into your budget.
