This is jenniewray's Purple Wedding!

Is anyone else having trouble with their vendors?

I've given them all specific instructions with PICTURES showing exactly what I want. Yesterday, the lady creating the programs decided she'd go ahead and print them the way SHE thought they looked best and they were NOTHING like I'd asked (and of course my fiancé picked them up and paid for them because he thought that's what I wanted).

Today, I got an email from my cake maker saying she thinks that the cake would be better white rather than cream, even though I told her I am not having any white at the wedding (my dress is cream, linens are ivory etc.) She said this based on the flowers my florist told her he'd ordered - I gave him pictures and the exact flowes I wanted - saying DEEP, BRIGHT COLOURS - nothing FLOURESCENT.....so obviously he's ordered brighter flowers than I asked, otherwise the colours I asked for would look great on ivory.

So then I call the florist and ask about the colours and he says "I ordered what you told me to order" so I say, then you got DEEP, BRIGHT colours right? and he just repeats "I ordered what you told me." He then goes on to tell me he's bought purple, white and lime green PLAID ribbon in my bouquets when I specifically said - FLOWERS ONLY, no fill.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE!?

Here's along the lines of what I'd like for my make-up for the wedding. I want to have really bright/dramatic lips and the rest I'd like to be pretty natural - I have small eyes so the more make-up the smaller they look I think - but I guess professionals can do anything - I just want to look really pretty!!

They've arrived and were super cute. We got them from the website called "HotRef" they seemed to have the best prices in comparison with the other website that offered the same prodcut. We got the design with the little vines along the edge (show in red) but in the light yellow. They say: Alexander & Jennifer, and below - 09/19/2008.
OH! And the smell is amazing - vanilla, honey, linen...delicious!

We're renting them from Moore's Clothing For Men. Our little ring bearer is wearing a mini tux - with the purple accessories.

I decided, so that everyone will feel comfortable that we'll have two styles the girls can choose from. They both are strapless and are approximately the same length so they do look fairly similar - just the fit completely different. The dresses are ordered, so we're just waiting for them to come in. We're getting them in "concord" (darkest purple I could find) and the sashes are in "banana" (which is the colour of my dress). Our little flower girl (Kylie) is wearing a purple sash around her fairly plain ivory dress. She's gonna be so cute!

My lovely bridesmaids have arranged to rent a bunch of houseboats for the bacheloertte. About 25 girls are spending a long weekend touring down the kawartha lakes. We're stopping off in Bobcaygeon the first night and then heading directly to Cobiconk for Saturday night to enjoy a fantastic night of dancing & drinking at the world famous Pattihouse (ok, maybe not so famous - but ALWAYS a good time!). I believe anyone who can't make the entire weekend is meeting up with us on Saturday night, it's going to be ridiculously fun. I CAN'T WAIT!

I'm getting fingerwaves with a fascinator & a birdcage veil - WICKED. The long haired girls are getting either a huge puff or the side bun! Tina has curly mid-length hair too, so she's getting fingerwaves with me. I can't wait for the hairdo's they're going to be BEEEAUTIFUL!

The ceremony is at 5:00 p.m. outside in the gazebo. We're having cocktails for an hour while the bridal party goes and gets our photos taken. Then we're going into the room in the picture for the rest of the night. The only decorating I'm doing are the centrepieces because I think the room is so grand & beautiful that it doesn't need anything else!

I'd like to have the exact same look as the picture, except the flower types/colours will be different.

I want to have the most deepest colours we can find in red, yellow, orange & purple.

My fiancé's parents friend is creating the arrangements for us - he was actually an Art teacher at my highschool too which is really fun.

The flowers I'm thinking so far are:

red poppy
yellow to red rose (like the tips of the petals are red)
dark purple freesia
green hydrangia
burnt orange gerber daisy

I'm having the candelabra's made because the picture I found is actually from a wedding in California - which doesn't help. They man (Carlos) who's making them is based out of Scarborough, ON - "Abbco Railing" if anyone is interested.

Well, I must say it was one of the best days of my life. Alex asked me to meet him at King subway station downtown after work and told me that we were going out for a "special evening". We started out at the Sultan's Tent on Front Street which has AMAZING food. We had a four course meal which was totally authentic (the way I like it!). The restaurant has such great ambience, it's very romantic. A belly dancer came out of the backroom halfway through dinner and pulled me up! I had to dance in front of the WHOLE restaurant - I loved it! After dinner we walked over to a little parkette behind the flatiron building on Front Street. There was a huge lit up Christmas tree that we stood in front of for a few minutes contemplating what we were going to do for the rest of the night. After couple of minutes I was ready to get going and then it happened - Alex turned to me got down on one knee with tears in his eyes and asked (I was in such shock I can't remember exactly what he said now). I was so thrilled that I got down on the ground with him and did some weird kneel hug. Haha - so corny. He couldn't open the box after first (shaking) but after a few seconds he got it and I couldn't believe my eyes. He'd had a ring made for me from a jeweller that I had designed 3 years before as a "if you are ever thinking about it, here's what I like...." - words cannot describe how amazing it was/is. About a minute after when we were still hugging, he told me he'd got us tickets to go to the show and see "Little Shop of Horrors" whic was starting in a minute across the street at the Hummingbird Centre - I have to say I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the show (I was watching my ring dazzle in the flourescent lighting!). Then, we took the streetcar back to our condo and he had sprinkle red rose petals from the door to the bed - where a bottle of awesome red wine and two glasses were waiting for us... I guess he knew I'd say yes! The rest is history!!

I have 6 of my most favourite girls as my bridesmaids. My two very best friends Tina & Jessica are sharing the "maid of honour" role. The 3 of us have been the best of friends since we were 17 years old and worked at McDonalds together - they also introduced me to my fiancé, Alex. They have been with me through thick and thin and I love them to death because they're always been there for me - and because of how fabulous they both are in general. My cousin (a.k.a sister) Meaghan is another bridesmaid who has been my sidekick for as long as I can remember - when she was a baby I wouldn't let anyone else play with her, as far I was concerned she was mine (and she still is!)! Tara is my newest sister (Alex's sister-in-law) we were born a few days apart, look related (I think anyways!), are about the same overall size and have a really similar sense of humour - basically - it was just meant to be! Jolene is one of the funniest, thoughtful and most generous girls I know. We both suffer from O.M.A and always have a blast when we're together - she's an easy friend - the way friends should be. Kate is basically me, but a crazier - I always have the most fantastic time when I'm with her - we are both Tigger's in life (as opposed to Eeyore's), which is awesome! I Love You Girls!!

The picture is KINDA like what we're getting except we're having a circular cake, with less satin and more flowers! Our icing is going to be a light butter colour (the colour of my dress). The bottom layer will have flowres along the entire base of the cake, like a border. The top layer will be basically the same as the picture. The second layer will have a piece of purple satin around the base of that layer. Hopefully you're visual people! I'm not into those toppers...and I'm basing the wedding around the flowers, so the more flowers the better! Oh and most importantly - the cake flavour for the top layer & bottom layer is a "spiced banana" with a "carmel buttercream filling" and the middle layer is vanilla with a lemon sauce in the middle. YUM! YUM!
