Well the days have been ticking by, we are getting married next Saturday. I can't believe how quickly this engagement has flown by. I miss the beginning steps of it. Going through the magazines, looking at thousands of pictures on various websites for flower ideas, dress ideas, and everything else...
I miss the little things, like the anticipation of awaiting RSVP cards, assembling the wedding favors, meetings with the hall and catering company's, WEDDING DRESS SHOPPING, making collages of what I am dreaming our big day will be like.... I could go on and on
Suddenly its here.
A long waited 13 months... over in a flash.
Thank you to all of my fav'd brides! you have been fantastic throughout this beautiful time in my life.
I will share with you my engagement story...
For Christmas of 2009 Jonathan bought me Cirque De Soleil tickets for July of 2010... they weren't just tickets to the show but an entire long weekend away with him in Quebec City!!! which happens to fall around our 2 year anniversary...
Neither one of us have ever been to a show like this before so I was anxiously awaiting our big trip away. Of course for 7 months everyone kept teasing us that this was our big trip for engagement... Which got me even more excited, even though I didnt want to ruin anything, but HEY Im a girl, and allowed to dream ;)?
So the weekend finally arrives, we make the 9 hour drive from Barrie to Quebec City. We get to our hotel, check in, Go to the local Aquarium right beside our hotel, and stroll along the old cobblestone pathways down town Quebec City- How Romantic!
Saturday we get up and check out a few of the older places like Hotel Frontenac (beautiful!) and do a little street side shopping. We finally get time to go to the Cirque De Soleil - Totem...
Apparently Jonathan had the ring in the box the whole night, I never even noticed...
We walk to the show, it ends later then we thought, So we walk to the nearby restaurant that he wanted to take me to and they are closed!.. bummer... we ended up stopping at another restaurant that was like a home style eatery. Nothing special on the menu. Its late by this point and we are both tired by the long day so we start walking back to the bus terminal to take us back to the hotel and we missed the bus!...
So we decide to call a cab... at 12:30 AM we finally make it back to the hotel, Jonathan opened a bottle of wine while I was trying to find some music on my Ipod that we could listen to and Jonathan said
"Jennifer, we've been together now for 2 years and I was wondering if you would like to take the next step and get married? will you marry me?"
as he got onto one knee I couldn't stop crying. I couldn't even see what he was holding out in front of me because my eyes were welled up with tears. I asked him to ask me again because it all just seemed like a blur. He said "Jennifer will you marry me?" and I screamed YES!!!! yes of course and honestly This is a moment i will never forget!
My profile picture is the first picture we took after he asked me to marry him. I've never changed it because I love reflecting back into the moment every time I see this picture. I can see me glowing, glossy-eyed, makeup running and all, and I can see he is proud, he looks glossy-eyed and emotional too. What an amazing moment in ones life.
Congrats sweety, we will miss you
I am the weekend after you...
Wishing you all the best, enjoy yourself and dont fret the small stuff, nothing can be more important.....
Lots of love
Amanda
