OK, so I'm really considering doing two or three different types of centerpieces to add some variety and excitement. All three centerpieces will "go" together, but not "match" perfectly. Since I'm having a fall wedding, I want to bring nature in an elegant way into the decor. Also, I really want to limit my flower expense to only the bouquets (with the exception of maybe a few in the branches of some of my centerpieces).
Here are some I really like:

Photo1) of the hanging crystals on a curly willow or manzanita branch. I think I can pick up branches at a craft store and the crystals are at bead shops, or I saw some in bulk online.

Photo 2) something similar (minus the pink rocks and flowers) will be on 1/3 of my tables, perhaps surrounded by some low votives. Each branch will have hanging crystals. I think this incorporates fall (bare branches) with elegance.

Photo 3) 1/3 of the tables will have clusters of various height candles. It adds visual excitement to the table.

I really love the idea of the branches.  I wanted to do something similar at first but decided it really wouldn't go with what I was looking to do.  there are all kinds of things you can do with those branches.  If you are looking for the crystals, you might be able to luck out and find an old chandelier at a yard sale or thrift store or something similar and you can use that.  The crystals can get expensive, so if you're looking to save costs by not doing flowers and doing the crystals instead, you might not be saving money unless you are really crafty and think outside the box!!!

Bugchick0, Great idea! I love the idea of using crystals from old chandeliers! It wouldn't matter if all of the crystals matched. If I can find two chandeliers, that should be enough to hang 10-12 crystals from 7 or so branch centerpieces.  Love it! Thanks.

I am doing branches too! I have a post on my  blog about them. I bought these awesome plastic diamond ornaments after Christmas and am going to hang them, and tie on some flowers and votive candles.

Nataliepink,
I saw the plastic diamond ornaments. Very cool! I think that is such a creative idea.  I was on ebay and found 40 tear drop chandelier pieces for $7!! I love your idea of tieing on the flowers.
