I always do both when I can't decide on just one.
On each guest's plate will be a small jar of hawberry jelly with our names and wedding date printed on the label. The jelly is made of hawberries which is a berry that is supposedly native to manitoulin island. People from the island are known as "haweaters" and there is even a haweater festival on the august long weekend to celebrate the coming home of native islanders.
As for the candy buffet, I will be placing apothecary jars (5 total) on the cake table, so that it kind of acts as a sweet table. I don't know what kind of candies to buy though....any ideas? I am also worried about the cost!
I will be ordering small sized chinese food takeout boxes in white for people to take home the candy. They are a little easier to use then cellophane bags since they sit in stacks on the table...less messy that way!
Candy - maybe check out your local bulk store and see what is affordable and go from there? If you're not doing bags though, I would look at predominantly sealed candy to ensure freshness for your guests :)
@tashasita..I agree sealed candy is the way to go...i am also doing mini chocolate bars (hersheys minatures with our labels printed on them)
@honeybee- thanks for the suggestions...do people actually like good and plenty though?!
@everyone else. thanks for the suggestions,,,i will def. be making a stop at costco!
