Centerpieces

So from my last blog, you know we are on a strict budget. I am looking for creative ideas for out centerpieces. I saw an idea on an episode of "ugly Betty" that i really liked in the first season, but i cannot find a picture anywhere. I thought candles may be a good alternative to spending money on flower. If i do flowers i would like gerber daisy's or peonies. Here are a few ideas I have found.

If anyone has any ideas, please send me links.

Candles can be more cost effective than flowers depending on the # of candles or type of flowers used. It would be nice to meet with a florist and get an estimate to find out the cost of flowers and compare it to how much a candle centerpiece would cost.

I agree with Ladybugg, candles can be cost effective but for something like picture 1 (which I adore btw) it may cost just as much if not more then flowers depending on how many tables you have. Peonies can be expensive, they were originally one of my first choices but once I saw the price tag I changed my mind! Gerber Daisies on the other hand are a good choice because they not only are affordable but you don't need very many to make a statement. Gerber Daisies are also easy to work with, I did my mom's bouquets for her wedding using them and I know NOTHING about flower arrangement. For her MOH I just took 3 Gerber Daisies and wrapped them with floral tape then ribbon. For hers I took 6 and did the same process. She also put some on her cake sort-of cascading down. For the centerpieces we made large Gerber Daisy cookies on sticks and glazed them with different colors of icing then did the outline in royal icing and sprinkled the centers w/ nonpareils.  We then got cheap flower pots put floral foam in the bottom and stuck a dozen or so cookies in each. It was very cute and cost effective.
