Friday Weddings

Hello Well everyone on this website knows how I feel considering my wedding is on a Thursday night. Having my wedding on a Thursday night verses a Saturday night with the same package is saving us $50 dollar per person. I always dreamed of a big lavish wedding but we arent rich and know alot of ppl. So this allows me to have what I want without breaking the bank. Discuss it with your friends and family I did even though at the end of the day the decisions was ours. Trust and believe me anybody who you and your FH mean anything to will be there if it was on a Tuesday. A Friday night wedding is fine do the ceremony late as mine is starting at 6pm so even if ppl didnt want to take a half of day or day off they still can make it. Most of my guest are close friends and family and have no problem taking a day off for us. You still have to live after keep that in mind. Everyone I know that has had a Friday and Thursday night wedding have had great turnouts.There is nothing wrong with a Friday night wedding. DO IT GIRL

agree w/ futuremrsrose. I'm having a Friday wedding. I did wonder about whether people would come or not after work. But after talking w/a  few ppl, they were like they prob take teh whole day off! And those are the ppl you want @ your wedding. That care enough about you to change their schedule to see you on your big day. We are also saving $$ by having on a Friday.
PLUS benefits include, you still the whole weekend to spend w/ family/out-of-towners if you want.
Nobody can complain about having to get up to go to church in the morning :)
MUCH cheaper!!!! So if it works for the most important ppl, then go for it!

We're having a Friday evening wedding, ourselves.

I was MOH in a Friday wedding 2 weeks ago.  Everyone who was supposed to be seemed to be there, and those we were not, probably didn't need to be. Everyone was happy especially the bride and groom. It was a lovely wedding. Friday weddings can be just and nice as a wedding that's held on Saturday or Sunday. I understand that it costs so much less than a weekend wedding too.

Thanks for all the comments ladies. I really agree if they love and care about our special day they will be there no matter what it takes. I feel very comfortable by making this decision to pursue a Friday evening wedding. It's nice to know a lot of other brides are not going with a Saturday wedding. Thanks so much ladies you guys are always so helpful.

in my country peple dont really do saturaday wedding, we get married on fridays and although people come from work they do show up!after all is ur special day and since theyll have saturdays to lay in bed i say go for it!!!

@princesni thats interesting that your country dosent usually have saturday weddings. Its nice to learn about what others are doing around the world. Thanks so much for your comments you are right I could have a nice Friday night wedding and relax all weekend with my new husband. I really think I'm going to go for it.

i'm having a Friday wedding, too, and on another point of view, it was actually better for my out of towners. They were going to fly in that morning anyway, so they'll have the rest of the weekend to spend with the family, seeing everyone, and having dinner, etc.
It definitely saved us ALOT of money,  but the most important thing to me, is that very few people even work 9 to 5's anymore.
Alot of my friends and family have nurse-like jobs, and work weekends, so it's hard for them to take a Saturday off, and easier to take a Friday off.

@micaylax0922 Thanks for your comments sounds like Friday really works for you and your family. I really like that everyone makes the point that family who are out of towners can really enjoy the whole weekend. I really love that as well I believe we will be going with a Friday evening wedding. I think it will work out just fine especially since most of my guests are local and those who are coming from out of town will appreciate the longer weekend in town and probably save some money on airfare. Thanks again :)

I don’t like to go to Friday´s wedding but I go to them anyway.
I don’t like because I have to do everything in a hurry: dress up, make up, etc.
If you live in a big city, you have to consider that people may arrive late because of the traffic.

@denisewp Thanks for your insight that is some other things that I need to consider. I dont live in a huge city however there are a lot of expansions taking place in the area. New condos, a huge train station project and road expansions. They said the new project should conclude in 2013 but you never know with projects so this could cause some traffic problems to get to the ceremony and venue. Thanks again as this will give me more details to consider.

There is nothing wrong with having your wedding on a friday, mine is on Friday the 13th of all days. I've talked with my friends and they said they will come just to see me all dolled up. Plus we are starting the wedding at 6 giving people enough time to wind down from work and get dressed plus my venue closes at 12...five hours is good enough time to party and have fun.

@kimh81 Thanks for your comment as well. I feel like many will attend especially if I send my STD early. It gives many time to plan ahead for a Friday evening ceremony and reception. Plus like I stated there are many who are local so it shouldnt be too bad of course the plus is that we will save a lot on per person cost.
