SO many ideas, it can be overwhelming
In the pictures attached you will see some of the many ideas I've come across and some I've tried out making just to see if I'd like them.
So far the idea that seems to be winning out in my head are the tea-stained doilie covered cards that have a simple ribbon for hanging.
They are layered with a circular tag that has the Table # and then layered with a smaller tag that has the guest's name. All in all I want them to be breathlessly romantic, sentimental and have a flair of modern-meets-vintage appeal. Not quite "shabby chic" with the whole burlap ultra organic look, but truly vintage in a posh and ultra polished fashion-forward type of way with a nod to times of old. Yeah, in my head it makes sense even if that sounds absolutely crazy. If I can help it, I want to make my own or find some great artist on Etsy.com to employ to make them.. Maybe, oh maybe if I bat my eyelashes real real nice I can ask my mom to help.. An architect by trade, my mom is a genius at stuff like this.. It's just I'm already having her make my garter, help with my brooch bouquet and all the rest of the mother-of-the-bride stuff that goes with the job.. Don't want to stress her too much.
I went to Staples today and purchased a huge bulk box of over 200 cream colored tags to get started,
Next up will be how to actually present them.. because it's modern vintage, I want to capture the essence of my theme without going with something people have gone with already..
Jury is still out.. I was thinking about using some fishing line and suspending the escort cards in an open vintage steamer trunk layered with pretty flower petals at the bottom, but I'm not sure if the steamer trunk I already own will accommodate the number of guests we will have.
Will keep you posted... in the meantime, I'm going to get some rest. It's going on midnight and I have so much to do in the morning before I even make it to work.
((HUGS)) to all of you DIY brides out there! Though the road may be challenging at times, it's SO worth it! I'm absolutely loving this process.
Goodnight everyone
Josie
