Premarital Counseling
Started our Premarital Counseling at Marriage Bootcamp 2 weeks ago and LOVING IT!
wow! We are really loving premarital counseling.. this year for 7 weeks our church (shout out to Destiny Metropolitan Worship Church www.destinymetro.org) is sponsoring a Marriage Bootcamp for married couples and engaged couples that we are doing in-tandem with our privatized one-on-one premarital counseling.
What a journey! I have laughed, cringed, shared a tear or two with other couples, and had a chance to really get to know (and fall in love all over again) with my FH Patrick.. WBC Brides if you haven't already started or already decided on whether you are going to do premarital counseling with your FH, I strongly encourage you to take a look into this great resource to strengthen your bond - find this book that we are using in Marriage Bootcamp.. it's amazing! It's called "Strengthening Your Marriage" by Wayne A. Mack ISBN 978-0-87552-385-9 ((HUGS)), Josie |

***Wanted*** Modern Vintage Design for Wedding Invitations
Help! I am having the hardest time coming up with the design for my invitation mats to go on my pocketfold invitations...
I will be using the sparkling merlot pocketfold invitations from cardsandpockets.com ($.82/pocket they ROCK!) and I need to come up with the design for the invitation so I can hurry up and order my supplies. The invitation should be in landscape mode, and needs to go on the invitation mat that is 5 5/8" x 5 5/8" and should be a design that can cascade on the enclosure cards for the accomodations, RSVP, etc. smoothly If any of you WBC Brides of the Present or Past have awesome design skills, PLEASE email me ASAP so I can give you the particulars! The design needs to have the following: - modern/vintage/ornate/damask -going on a creamy ivory background -accent colors need to be gold/champagne with a pop of burnt orange -looking for a clean, crisp design I can be reached via email at Josette.Hutton@gmail.com for quotes Thanks SO much!! |

Working on our Wedding Program.. we're doing vintage fans!
Totally lucked up and found 110lb creamy ivory reams of 250ct cardstock paper on CLEARANCE for $7.99 at Michaels this week, and working together with one of my friends at Staples figured out how to use a template I came across online (special shouts out to athomealterations.com for the template!) to make a really cute fan wedding program.
Since my theme is modern vintage, at the base I am going to put a brad so it opens smoothly and adorn the edges with pearls or something and a simple ribbon through the hole. I've decided to use my doily cones for the "tears of joy" and simply hang them on the chair as decoration, and use the ecofetti in little white containers I found (12 to a pack!) at the Dollar Store last weekend.. that way I don't have to purchase as much ecofetti and I can alternate the colors every other seat to make for a pretty picture as we're leaving. *giggles* |

WBC Ladies...I'm Back!!! all moved in, and my DIY brooch bouquet is coming along... finally
WBC Brides I'm FINALLY back, oh my goodness!! Talk about a whirlwind of a month that turned into to 2 really quick! We've moved into our new condo, threw our first 4th of July Party, I got a promotion, and I tell ya, I'm t-i-r-e-d. hahahahaha.
ok, so as you can see I haven't been on to post in awhile and I still have a billion pics from the engagement party to post but I will, I promise! in the meantime.... whew! I wish I could go back in time 3 months ago and literally SHAKE myself and say "Are you crazy?!" when I decided I wanted a brooch bouquet lol. late nights, drives to various thrift stores, a zillion do-overs and a week worth of my FH asking "honey are you coming to bed yet" and I'm almost done.. Not totally in love with it yet, but once I get the bottom together and continue filling in the little spots here and there, I think it will be perfect. so.... tell me what you think! In this post you will also see the beginning of my centerpiece idea for my guest tables... I ditched the idea for the live centerpieces with the betta fish- just too much to deal with and I wanted a vintage inspired centerpiece.. so... the idea is an ultra vintage-feminine centerpiece where there will be a bust of a lady all dazzled up sitting on top of purple hat boxes and the table number in calligraphy will be in the center as part of her necklace.. the champagne colored tables will be adorned with a vase of flowers and soft tea lights around the base.. will be working on putting the centerpiece table mock-up together to make sure it will flow, but so far that's where I'm at. |

Engagement
Counting down the days until our Engagement Party!! *Playbills, DIY VIP passes and DIY photo blocks for the centerpieces are complete!*
I'm soooo excited! My younger brother Miles is a graphic designer and student at Benedict College in South Carolina and jumpstarted his own company called Mighty Gesture, Inc.
Despite his hectic schedule in between shoots and projects (he is an AMAZING photographer and visual media artist) he has created special playbills for Patrick and I for our engagement party. I am soooo happy with the way everything is turning out. He is a genius. Because our venue is the Historic Douglass Theatre in my hometown, where people go to watch movies, concerts, you name it- we wanted to play up the fact that our first date was at the movies, and one of our favorite dates was the Atlanta Jazz Festival last year to celebrate my FH's birthday, and highight just how much we really love music. Our theme for the engagement party is "It's a love story" and we will be playing up the movie theme.. of course as Bride and Groom, we are the leading roles.. our wedding party are our "All-star supporting cast" and there are playbills that have all the important wedding info: wedding cast names and roles, Save the Date info, and a keepsake playbill all about the engagement party that will be part of the decor. We are using the 8x10 photos from our engagement shoot to be our centerpieces on the table and I've hand painted photo block holders in our wedding colors to coordinate the tables. To further play up the theatre/ all-star cast theme, We will have a red carpet for the wedding party to walk down as they are announced and our photographer will be "paparazzi" capturing their pictures. We will have an autograph moment of the evening where everyone can mix and mingle to get to know each other. I made VIP Passes for my entire wedding party down to the ushers and hostesses to distinguish them from the other guests, and everyone has been asked to wear purple.. Because we love music so much, our guest book will actually be vinyl records that we can keep and frame in our home as part of our decor.. I'm about to cry just thinking about all the special people in my life who will be there to help celebrate with us! I can't wait!!! |

Wedding Reception
We found a Reception venue! WHOO-HOO!!! *Club Hunter, Hunter AFB*
SO thankful to my Bridesmaid, Alison Moore (hey Alison!) for suggesting I check some military bases.
Turns out not only can we have the ENTIRE building for less than $1500, but it is gorgeous!!! My FH Patrick was so wonderful to go and take pictures, walk through each room so I could see what it looks like (since I'm 4 hours away in Atlanta) and I fell in love with the venue. It already has chandeliers, a gorgeous fireplace in another room, and talking with the coordinator she sent me the picture to show that mood lighting using uplighting will be a breeze to set up, and the space is ample enough to more than accommodate all of my guests! What's even better, I learned there is a Hotel available on the premises (all of 20 minutes drive from the ceremony site WITH traffic) that is available to civilians.. because my stepdad is a veteran, he gets a special rate so now my family has a place to stay for the week!! So happy everything is coming together! |

Oh, ROSS stores how I love thee *they do vintage everything*
So today during my time at Discover Mills Mall out in Lawrenceville/Duluth I stumbled across some awesome double birdcages at Ross.
Havent decided if I will have them at the ceremony or not, but I couldn't leave them.. they were only $16. there were 2 large ones and 1 small one.. I'm thinking about using them as decor at the reception either by placing flowers inside or some other idea that hasn't come to me yet. any suggestions? *I'm also very excited that I found a really nice vintage-inspired 2-tier stand that was $5.99 2 weeks ago* Ross is amazing.. absolutely LOVE their homegoods section. :) |

DIY Wedding
*UPDATE* My DIY vintage birdcage veil is coming along!!!
What a day, what a day! Finally blessed with a day off and I was able to get so much done today!
I met with the baker for the Engagement Party. had a conference call with the Florist and my Maid of Honor, went to Discover Mills Mall to double check the measurements of the Flower Girl's dress and compare them to her measurements for the right size dress, went to Michael's for their sale on beads and jewelry to use for my vintage brooch bouquet... ...and, made some more touches to my birdcage veil!! So while I was at Michaels I came across some jars of orange and gold fabric flowers on clearance for less than $4, and instantly the wheels in my brain started turning... I decided that since the Flower Girl's dress had orange flowers sewn into the bottom of the dress, and her tiara matched the train of my dress, but my Bridesmaids are wearing the plum purple color, that I wanted my veil to tie back into the Flower Girl and Maid of Honor with the burnt orange color, and leave my shoes to be blinged out in purple under my dress.. I started out with the fabric flowers and the glue gun, strategically placing the glitter flowers, burnt orange flowers, gold flowers, peach flowers and so on for a vintage-inspired feel.. then I decided it was a little blah, so I added a pearl border to the front since it will be asymetrically going across my face and is double-layered with a Russian polka-dot netting on top as mentioned in a previous post.. I glued, pulled apart, repositioned and glued back the hair clip piece underneath placing the veil on my head, repositioning the clip back and forth... I thought I was going to die at one point, but it finally ended up in the right position Now I'm waiting for the pieces to really set in so I can reinforce the flowers from the bottom with a stitch here and there tomorrow... and not have to worry about flowers going here, there and everywhere on my special day *giggles* tell me what you think so far... I wish I could post my dress so you could see how it flows together...but my hubby-to-be is a huge supporter of my blog, and we wouldn't want to ruin the surprise for him! |
