"The DRESS"
Either you like it or you don't!
I enjoyed wearing my dress on my wedding day. It fit just right and was very comfortable. It was actually 3 ½ months to the day of my wedding that I went to even try on dresses and if it were not for my mom, I would have just worn a bathing suit...lol. She called me one day in January to see how I was doing and out of the blue said, “What does your dress look like”...HUH? I don’t have a dress. I went to David’s to pick up my sister’s dress and decided to try on some dresses while I was there. My mom and MIL attended and it was the 3rd dress that made them say, “That’s the dress”. I just looked at the sales woman and said, “Bag it up”. EASY!!! I don’t like shopping and I most definitely trust my mother’s taste so I could not have gone wrong. Also, to mention, my sales lady was the best and didn’t force me into getting just anything and the best thing is even though David’s dresses you pick off the rack, the dress I tried was just that a dress I tried on. She went in the back and got me a fresh new dress in my size.
Thank goodness, my mom is a seamstress by trade, with the dress fitting like a glove all I needed was a bustle done and my mom was able to make one for me. |

Did I hear someone say "BLING"
My ring was purchased from Jared’s and was actually an upgrade gift that my DH had given me for Christmas of 2007. My original setting was a plain pear solitaire on a gold band. I am not one for flashy things but DH knows I like old jewelry and love pear shaped diamonds. Therefore, for my upgraded ring I rec’d a heirloom ring that included white as well as rose gold and a pear center stone. Since the engagement ring itself is quite ornate, I did not want to take away from the style of the ring so I decided on getting a wedding band that was thin, half diamond channel set, and rose gold. My band was purchased from Overstock.com; they had the best deal on the band I was looking for.
DH has two rings also (but he does not wear them at the same time...lol). We originally purchased his wedding band (the one with the diamonds) from a store in New Jersey. DH picked his own ring out which was all right with me. I suggested since he is a truck driver that he should also get a plain ring also, just for work...he agreed. I purchased a titanium ring for him for about $750.00 less than the diamond one also from Jared’s and he loves it. The titanium ring was the most economical and it served its purpose for him on the job, no matter how many times him banged his hands or scuffed against things on the big riggs the metal never scratches...very strong I might say! You ladies may be interested in this type of ring if your Future or Dear Hubbies are hard on their hands. We both had our rings engraved (by Jared’s) both has 4.26.08, but DH also has my name in his. Jared’s could not fit his name inside my ring because the back of my band is not wide enough, that’s ok! |

Location, Location, Location
Old Bahama Bay, Grand Bahama Island
I always knew I wanted to get married on an island and when I approached DH about this he was all for it. After seeing pictures of Solange Knowles ( Beyonce's little sister) wedding at Old Bahama Bay...I wanted to have my wedding there also (and truly not because of Solange)....lol. The location is completely serene tranquility and that was what I wanted my wedding to be. Intimate, Fun & Relaxation!!! We picked a December weekend in 2006 to scout out the resort to make sure it meet all that we wanted in the environment for our wedding and especially our guests. It proved to be everything we wanted and more. One wedding at a time and very accommodating in everyway, the food at OBB was superb and the hospitality was immaculate. The staff there is awesome! Anything you wanted it was given and the outdoor views were gorgeous; every suite room had a view of the ocean or the marina.
To ensure accommodations for the guests were going to be good, we insisted on seeing the suite rooms. They were wonderful! Every room had a king sized bed with a small sitting area that had a pullout sofa bed, flat screen TV’s, and full kitchens. The bathrooms were like mini spas with glass bowl sinks and warm terry robes for those cozy showers. And lets’ not talk about the balcony or patio’s...it didn’t matter because if you wanted to lay or play by the beach it was literally 20-50 ft. right outside your door, talk about ocean front. |
