Wedding Gift Registry
Canadian help!

FH and I decided to go make our registries this past weekend, only to learn that Canadian Tire and Walmart have taken out the gift registry option!

We live in a small city, so we don't have a Bay, Eatons, Target, etc. ...
where on earth are we going to register? If we don't register, what do we do?

We do have a Sears, but there's not a whole lot you can buy there. Everything is also super expensive, and not all that great quality.

Any advice? Suggestions?

It sucks that there aren't a whole lot of options....even where I live...it's either Sears or The Bay. A solution that might work is signing up for a Wishpot Wedding Registry....it lets you add anything from any store to a gift registry...and then you can include the link to your registry on your wedding website or bridal shower invitations. So if there are particular things you want from Canadian Tire or Wal-Mart you can add them..and it's free.

Ugh...we had the exact same problem! We had no choice but to opt for Sears (I agree...it's SO expensive and I've found that some of the most basic things aren't even available to buy). We found a couple of local boutiques & furniture/home stores in town that do registries on their own. Maybe places in your area do something similar - although it took us a bit of research as they didn't advertise their registries that well.
Another thing I'm kind of relying on is word of mouth. There are a few things that we'd like at stores like Canadian Tire and Walmart, but obviously can't register for, so I've told my mom to mention those things to relatives who aren't sure what to buy us. Really, that's all we can do.
amsc76 - what a great suggestion! I didn't know Canada had a registry system like that. I have seen lots based in the US, which is great, but doesn't do us Canadian brides much good. Thank you for sharing that with us :)

You can register at home outfitters, bay or sears.

ALSO

you can do an online registy and ANY store ANYWHERE....we are doing this:

Heres the site:

http://www.myregistry.com/

You basically go to the online store of your choice...find what you want and click the button and it gets added to your registry.
