Wedding Dress

What is a seal and send invitation? To quote sealandsend.net,
"SealandSend Invitations are single 6" x 17" sheets that are folded to create 6" x 4" mailers— no envelope is needed! Printed on both sides, this one-piece invitation includes your announcement, reception, dinner, dance and lodging information, plus a photo, artwork and map if you choose. The bottom panel is perforated to use as a detachable RSVP or map card." I discovered them at a local bridal expo at my mall. I can buy them through the party store for reallllly cheap. Like $150 for 100 invites if I want to have colored ink, and even less for black. I am loving that price. They are different and pretty casual. I think that is becoming a theme for the wedding and I am not sure how I feel about that. I want our wedding to be unique to us. But with no specific bridal party attire, a non-religious ceremony, and well us being us, this wedding is becoming more and more casual. I have a fancy dress. Well I haven't bought it yet, but it is decided. the dress is beautiful and not exactly your casual dress. I'll have to tell you about it sometime. Think strapless allover lace, swarovski crystals, and mermaid with a sweetheart neckline and corset back. ahhh I love it. ANYWAY, thoughts on the invites? Are they too casual? I want people to have fun and I want to save money, but I'd prefer if people came wearing shoes. hmmm... I hate decisions :/ |

Sand Ceremony
A Sand Frame!!
I want to have a sand ceremony but I feel like the vase will be something that we lose or won't get put in a spot that it really deserves in our future homes. I saw on another bride's journal that she wanted a sand frame instead of the vase, and I love that idea! We would use one of our engagement pictures for the ceremony and then trade it out for a wedding picture later. We would use the colors of our wedding so that our wedding picture would be completely unique to us and our wedding AND have a lot of meaning. Yay for finding new ideas!!

Friends of Honor??
Ladies, I need your help!!
FH has 9 groomsmen, I have 6 bridesmaids and 1 bridesman. I hate hate hate the idea of asking each of them to spend 150- 200 bucks for renting a suit/ buying a dress. I was reading a bridal magazine and the cover bride, Bree Turner, had the same feelings and therefore had "friends of honor." They stood up with the bride and groom, took pictures, and did all of the typical bridal party but they wore whatever they wanted. I personally LOVE this idea, but my fiance thinks that some of our friends might be offended or won't like the idea. I don't understand why not? So, how do you ladies feel about this? My colors are pool and dark brown, the bridesmaids dresses were going to be pool, because the groomsman had chocolate tuxes. I just dont like the idea of spending money on a one-time dress or tux. Its so wasteful, I'd rather them save the money and rent a nicer hotel room or something like that, go out and have fun since the wedding is in myrtle beach! Please let me know your thoughts!!!! |

Seating Charts?
So we are having a buffet style dinner and we want to make sure that our guests mingle and get to know each other. A large majority of our guests are 20-somethings and friends from the various colleges and programs we have attended. We want them to party and get along! Should we leave it up to them? or should we create a seating chart? We are planning on having 8-person tables, and a sweetheart table for us. We do know that we want to have seats saved for our bridal party, we went to a wedding last year that didnt have seating for the bridal party and we had to beg people to move so that we could all sit together with our dates!

Favors?
I am just not a big fan of wedding favors. I don't feel like we should have to give our guests something else to thank them for coming. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone we are inviting and I am so thankful that they are coming. But what on earth could I possibly give them for under $2 that would not just be immediately thrown away? I have never received a wedding favor that made me go "wow, I am really glad they gave me that." most things ended up in the trash. However, people tend to expect a favor nowadays (like the food and alcohol we provided was not enough!) so I am racking my brain to come up with something creative and not junky to give out. I have seen a lot of candy buffets recently and I think that may be the solution I have been looking for! Here are some of my favorites.....
Anybody else feel the same way about favors? or am I just too cynical about it? Anybody else have some great ideas for favors? Thanks!!!! UPDATE: Now I am worried that this may be too "predictable." I really want our guests to have a good time and not find our ceremony and reception too "cookie cutter." blech- this planning stuff is hard!!! |

Wedding Decoration
I'm trying to figure out how I want the reception to look. My colors are going to clash with the room, but if I put enough of it in there, it shouldn't be so bad :) I want aqua and brown EVERYWHERE! The chairs that come with the venue are navy blue and boring. I think that chair covers will really make the reception look that much better. Anyway, here are some pictures that I have found that I love.
Anyone else have any suggestions? I have NO idea about centerpieces. Flowers seem like they would be expensive. pass on that one. I want something new and exciting! |

343 days feels so far away
I can't wait!
I know everyone says that time flies by, but I am having a hard time believing it. I just can't wait to be married and to finally be together again!! Due to the fact that we are both in grad school, we have a long distance engagement. We haven't ever gone this long not being together all the time. Its rough, but I know it is the best for us.
On the plus side, I finally created our wedding website: http://ryanandty.weddings.com I asked Ty to write a story of how we met and the engagement and he sent me back TWO PAGES (one for each). It was so great, I had to cut it short so that it would all fit, but it was awesome to read. I'm not gonna lie, it made me cry. There are so many of our friends and acquaintances getting engaged right now, so we wanted to get our date out there for all of our friends. Hopefully no one steps on our toes, but I do understand that finding a date is really hard. |

Bridesmaids
So I'm going to let them choose their own dress...
I hate asking people to buy stuff for me, and I think I watched 27 dresses one too many times so I have been seriously stressing over the bridesmaids' dresses. We are going to have 9 (yes NINE, I know, crazy) so I can't really pay for the dresses myself. So to make it a little bit easier on them, and myself, I am letting them pick out whatever dress they want. I am going to buy swatches of the "Pool" color from David's Bridal and send it to them and let them go out and buy a dress based on that. Obviously the colors won't be exact because they won't all be from DB but thats okay with me. Is that crazy of me? I just don't see the importance of being perfectly matchy matchy and besides, all the girls have different body types and personalities. I want them to feel comfortable and happy too.

Wedding Flowers
I found my bouquet!!
I am seriously in love with EVERYTHING that this bouquet has going on. I am going to try and replicate it as best I can. Its beautiful!!
Its hydrangeas and white roses. I love it even more than the all white rose bouquet I was originally planning. I thought about adding some gardenias but maybe that would be too fragrant? As long as it looks something like this one, I will be ecstatic! now to figure out the bridesmaids bouquets... I'm thinking pink :) |
