Ask a Question
Favors?
I am just not a big fan of wedding favors. I don't feel like we should have to give our guests something else to thank them for coming. Don't get me wrong, I love everyone we are inviting and I am so thankful that they are coming. But what on earth could I possibly give them for under $2 that would not just be immediately thrown away? I have never received a wedding favor that made me go "wow, I am really glad they gave me that." most things ended up in the trash. However, people tend to expect a favor nowadays (like the food and alcohol we provided was not enough!) so I am racking my brain to come up with something creative and not junky to give out. I have seen a lot of candy buffets recently and I think that may be the solution I have been looking for! Here are some of my favorites.....

Anybody else feel the same way about favors? or am I just too cynical about it? Anybody else have some great ideas for favors? Thanks!!!!

UPDATE: Now I am worried that this may be too "predictable." I really want our guests to have a good time and not find our ceremony and reception too "cookie cutter." blech- this planning stuff is hard!!!

How about cookies?  You could make this a DIY project and put a couple of cookies in a small favor bag (along with your recipe)

We aren't doing "favours" but are having a lot of things available to our guests...
Candy Table..
Sparklers with personalized matchbooks ( i made them myself - matchboxes are 10 for a dollar at the dollarstore - I just covered them with printed paper) etc....
a kids table with fun colouring books etc
and we're having a band

I know that I was definitely looking for more interactive items then gifts...!

We aren't doing favors either.. I thought about it and like you said.. i've never been to a wedding and said.. wow what a favor.. actually the last wedding I went to didn't even have any and I didn't even notice they were missing until I was going through planning my stuff weeks later....but I might try and find something little like the matchbooks or something like that.

I am doing donations. My fiance and I picked ASPCA but there are a lot of other organizations that you could do- They give you a little card that you place at each persons seat.. It's very us and it's for a good cause.

I posted about favors this evening, also...

What about awareness items?

Breast cancer ribbons, Autism bookmarks, etc that all get a cut of the sale and helps to raise awareness!

In the beginning I was refusing to the favors ideas too, but I did them anyway.  What I did is to buy candles and yes, some candies too, but I put them in stuff that you can use for decor in their  houses or as souvenirs from the wedding.
