I was looking into doing a candy buffet for the favors...has anyone been to a wedding that has had one, maybe done it at your wedding, or planning on doing it? Any suggestions?
I plan on having a sweets buffet at my wedding. I'm doing candy and cookies on mine. I figure that it would be a favor that most guests would enjoy and won't get left behind. I'm having sugar free items also because my fiance is a diabetic. That was one of the first things we agreed on. You can find great deals on bulk candy online or even at candy outlet stores. (I have a candy factory really close to my house that will even do the set up and take down for an added fee) I'm really excited to have one bc I've never been to a wedding that has. And my friends that have just raved about it.
At first I was going to do a candy buffet and when I started to looking into prices for everything it was getting a bit expensive so now we are doing a snack buffet...it will have candy, cookies, brownies, fudge, and so on.
I have been to a wedding that had a candy buffet and what i would suggest is 1. Keep in mind about children. (sugar + kids = potential mess) and 2. Do not bring out buffet till after dinner...the wedding i went to almost all of the candy was gone before dinner cause people were snacking on it while wedding party was having there pics taken.
a candy buffet all depends on what candy and how many guests. a friend of mine did this and they had to refill the jars several times and the online candy stores have many varieties but the shipping is high, so trying like a bj's or sams maybe a better idea and seeing what you can grab on clearance as well. good luck, i wanted to do this as well but everyone is doing it now so im looking for the next best thing
I do candy buffets in Philadelphia (for weddings, parties and special events) and yes, they can get pretty expensive. Pricing depends on a few things: number of guests, types of candy, some places charge for "special/elaborate decor" to accompany your display, whether you have an attendant available to monitor your buffet, set-up/break-down and depending on location some may charge an extra delivery fee.
Arcade Snacks in Auburn Massachusetts offers tons of candy options for a candy buffet...call them 508.832.6300. They are located at 205 Southbridge Street. They have gummi candy, jelly beans and lots of yogurt and chocolate candy. I use them for all of my wedding favors and buffet set ups!
I am thinking of doing a candy buffet, too! I just started to collect my apothecary jars! (which I love---They are incredibly beautiful, so I plan on keeping them around my house for decor.) I was pretty shocked at the price on candy, but I went to our local candy store and asked if we could make a deal. I'm getting my candy at a discounted rate without any shipping charges :) maybe, if you have a candy store where you live, you might be able to do something along those lines, too!
I am a wedding coordinator and have some advice. Candy Buffets are a wonderful idea. They can get costly though. If you can narrow your candy choices down to a few, you can also keep your cost down. Look for purchasing candy in bulk...avoid corner store sales unless you comparison shop first. Sales at your neighborhood stores may seem great because of no shipping costs, but you may spend more money (here) because the quantity is smaller and you need to buy more. If you have any further doubts contact someone who has done one or email me champagne_dreams.planning@yahoo.com

I had a candy buffet at my weddig ( I believe i posted a pic of it on my page). It can get a little expensive but we purchase candy based on the number of jars and refilling it 1 time. I didnt buy candy based on the number of guest (we hadother stuff to occuppy guest and other favors so if they got candy good for them but if you they didnt oh well, I hoped they enjoyed all of the other favors. I ordered some candy from candy warehouse, but I also purchase candy form the party stores etc... My sister was in charge of the wedding and she didnt open if until after dinner was served. She allowed guest to get what they wanted but she monitored it to make sure they didnt go over board. Good Luck!!!!
A great place to go is the family run Candy Hop (formerly the Candy Cafe) beside the Christmas Tree Shop in shrewsbury. I brought in our jar and they went over the options, even tried candy for sizing. And then gave us a discount on our buffet even without asking.
Its an old-time candy store, one of the last of its kind and it was really nice to see the options. You can order online with them at candyhop.com, however, their in-store service is really nice and they can order anything, so suggest stopping by. And they order weekly so its all fresh for the event. We were very happy with our green frogs and green M&Ms.

Oh and wanted to add the experience was even better because the Xmas tree shop has a lot of cheap decorations and jars, so it was a one stop wedding stop for us.
(Hope that helps lol)
