Bridesmaids
My wonderful ladies!
Matron of Honor -- Sara
My sister who got married August of 2007 (yes, before her big sis!) Bridesmaid #1 -- Chris My best friend since high school :) She's always got my back and we have so much fun together! Bridesmaid #2 -- Ashley We were both psychology majors throughout college and became best friends! She always knows how to make me laugh. Bridesmaid #3 -- Elizabeth She was my sorority Big Sister and I can't imagine what my freshman year would have been like without her! She's so smart and helpful. Bridesmaid #4 -- Cortney This girl is the REASON that I met Aaron! She introduced us and the story goes on from there. Had to have her in my wedding :). Flower Girl -- Nicole My little sister! She'll be 8 years old by the time of the wedding and I'm so glad she's still young enough to by my Flower Girl. I was worried that by the time we got hitched she'd be too old! |

Photographer and DJ
We've got our photographer and DJ booked already, both of whom worked for weddings of Aaron's family members (two cousins got married within the past couple years). It's so nice to have his family helping me since mine is so far away! They're great :). And the prices are pretty affordable too, cheaper than most I found. When you're on a budget of $4500, things have to be as cost-effective as possible!! I think the only BIG thing left to get is the caterer. Should be interesting! At least we have enough time to figure it out :).

Ask a Question
Who should walk me down the aisle? Or should I walk myself?
My father died in 2002. We had our difficulties but I think if he were alive I'd still have him walk me down for tradition-sake. However, since he's not around anymore, I'm concerned about what I should do. I have a step-father but I'm not that close to him (he's not a bad guy though). My mom thinks I should have him walk me down the aisle -- I don't feel comfortable with this idea and I've already refused. I have close uncles but not any that I feel deserve the honor of giving me away. No brothers or best guy friends. Would it be strange if I walked down the aisle by myself... or do you think that would be fine? What would you do?

Reception hall Where the dancing area will be ![]() ![]() |
Reception Hall
We're getting married at the Hines Center in Philpot, Kentucky right outside of Owensboro. All of his family lives there so we figured it'd be easier to have everything close to them instead of wherever we are at that time (my family is all spread out and I graduate in December so who knows where we'll end up!).
The ceremony will also be there too! They're going to hang a drapery up to separate a third of it from the remaining two thirds so you can't see the hall from the ceremony area. Yay! Now we just have to find an officiant... |

green dress island blue color bouquet ![]() ![]() ![]() |
Wedding Dress
So, after MUCH debating, I think I've chosen my colors:
Green (the color of the dress to the right) and Blue (the island blue color swatch to the right), with pink and silver as accent colors. I'm going to be using this dress for my bridesmaids! They'll be wearing silver shoes, not necessarily the ones in the picture though (they're choice). What do you think? I also would like to have my BMs alternating between the green dress and the blue dress (same dress just the blue color) because I think that would look really interesting. I think I'll have them carry pink and white bouquets to pop against the dress colors. |

The Proposal
Even after nearly 3.5 years, I was still surprised!
Aaron and I have been dating for 3.5 years, a little bit more as of today. It's been wonderful and I had known I'd wanted to marry him for quite some time now! Needless-to-say, I'd been getting a little impatient! Dropping hints EVERYWHERE at anytime where a hint would fit, haha. I know I was driving him crazy!
Anyway, a couple weeks before the proposal, Aaron asked me if I wanted to go to the Louisville zoo. Of course I would, we love the zoo! It's fun to look at the animals, take pictures, and just get the chance to spend the day together without having to worry about anything else at that time. Good exercise too! So I said I would love to and didn't realize the weekend he WANTED to go was the weekend I had class (yes, as a grad student, I do have a class on Saturday five times during the semester). I told him I didn't think we could go that weekend and that the next weekend we'd BOTH be free wouldn't be until April 19. He got really bummed and I didn't know why! We love the zoo, yes, but he's usually OKAY if we can't go when we want to go! Plus, it was supposed to be cold that weekend anyway so it was probably good we couldn't go that weekend. He came home one day after realizing we couldn't go during his desired weekend and told me that "someone needed THIS weekend [march 29] off and asked if I would switch with her," asking me if it was okay we go to the zoo that weekend instead of waiting until April 19. I still had no idea WHY he was so intent on going to the zoo as soon as possible, but I went along with it because I know how much he loves the zoo. :) So we went to the zoo on March 29 and it was nice, as usual. Once we got to the car, he got all somber and serious on me and said, "So, we've been together for 3 and a half years now...." I looked at him, still with NO clue what he was doing, and said, "Yeah... we have...." Then he says, "I wanted to do something special that we both enjoy doing before I asked you to be my wife." I about freaked out... in my head that is! I don't freak out when I get excited, it kind of all balls up inside of me and then I just smile, which is what I did. I said, "Yes, yes!" but he hadn't actually ASKED yet, lol, so he said, "You haven't let me ask the question!" so he ended up asking me, and I said yes again :). That's when he brought out the ring! It's gorgeous :). After that, we went to our hotel (the Hyatt). We had to wait like 45 minutes to go up to our room (wasn't ready yet!) so we ate at Coldstone while we waited. Once we did get to go to our room, he'd had them bring up champagne and roses! It was so sweet :). After we drank some champagne and tried to take some picture of the ring (couldn't capture it's beauty... sad!), we went to Fourth Street Live and had some more fun. Overall, it was a fantastic night! |
