Ask a Question
Preferred Vendors: The Gross Food Dilemma
What do you do when your reception venue has a list of preferred vendors for the food... and your not liking the food that the vendors have?
I am so nervous because I live in a small city and there is not too many venues and especially ones we can afford. I had the perfect vendor Brann's Catering (of Brann's Steakhouse) but their not one of my venues "preferred vendors." I'm so afraid of having a bad dinner because that's the most expensive part of this whole wedding. WHAT TO DO? |

DIY Wedding
My Save the Dates
So I decided to do the Save-the-Date magnets.
How did them... - I designed them in Publisher with a business card template and saved it as a jpg and pdf - After designing them I sent them to Vista Print and got 250 free premium business card prints ... now of course they weren't free I had to pay $4.99 for uploading the image and then my shipping cost. So total to print them it cost about $12.00... which is cool because my ink cartridges cost $40+. - Then once they return I ordered 250 business card magnets from Amazon for 19.99 with free shipping. So $35.00 for my save-the-dates isn't too bad. I did standard shipping they'll be here soon... ill keep you posted. Now all I need is stamps... sigh lol |

Wedding Music And Songs
Songs WE love
So I decided to do a mix of old school classics, gospel and new school classics.
"So Amazing" by Luther Vandross is my FAVORITE song so it was a must other artist include Stevie Wonder, BeBe & CeCe Winans, Brian McKnight, Beyonce (maybe lol), Eric Benet, India Arie, Robin Thicke, Whitney Houston, Dru Hill (maybe), Tyrese and Faith Evans. It feels good to me so im going to make it work. Not all the songs will make the cut for the ceremony but the favors or reception will have these artist played at some point. |

The Proposal
HE PROPOSED!!
So I forgot to put our proposal up.
Once upon a time There was a girl and a boy attending college in two different states lol. Ok seriously, we were in college in two different states and I met him through my younger cousin and her friends and initially I looked at him as a little brother because we both were seeing someone else at the time and he was younger than me. So we talked casually and when he came up to my neck of the woods we hit it off, but we were still just good friends. I remember always thinking he was such a nice guy. Then finally we decided to try a long distance relationship and it worked. Then we moved together and took it from there. Now 5 or 6 years later we are here with a second proposal. Well it was a regular Sunday and we both were at church. That particular Sunday I had to work so I wore my work clothes so that I could leave right from church and go to work I had no clue lol. So service was great going along as usual and my Pastor Rod in just a as-a-matter-a-fact way called Sam up. My Pastor Rod said, Sam come up and tell your testimony I was like oh thats nice, nothing unusual, still didnt expect anything. Then he said, Puff (my nickname) can you come up too, to support him since youve been such a big part of his testimony. I was like ok, but really in my head thinking like man why did I wear my work clothes today lol. So Sam began to talk, I was listening but on the other hand I also was distracted because I get so nervous being in front of people. So he was just a talking and all of a sudden I heard, YOU KNOW WE TALK ABOUT MARRIAGE, and I froze lol. He began to tell me how much I mean to him and all that weve been through and how since we both were new creatures in Christ he feels a whole new start to the road to marriage was in need and I just cried. Then he went down on one knee and I covered my face lol. When I opened my eyes he had the most perfect ring for me in a beautiful black box and he said, WILL YOU MARRY ME? I was so speechless all I could do was shake my head, YES!! Everyone in the church stood up and clapped. My dad was the first one to hug me, then it started a line and everyone in the whole church came up to hug & congratulate us. My mom came around and she was so surprised too and she cried as much as me lol. She was so happy because she loves her some Samuel lol. The other funny thing was that Sam put the ring on the wrong hand lol. I didnt even notice until my other Pastor, Pastor Shavaun was like, Puff, I think you need to switch hands with the ring lol, I was like, OH, I had no clue, still in shock lol. So it was awesome and very special because I got to share the moment with so many of the people I love and worship God with all the time. It was one of the happiest days in my life. Unfortunately I still had to go to work, but I felt like I was floating that whole day lol. Sam got 5 million stars that day. I LOVE ME SOME HIM!! |

Bridesmaids
The Bridesmaids Dresses, Shoes, Bouquet
So excited that the girl tried on the dress and like it. FYI, my maid of honor is very petite and my matron of honor is pregnant and it looks equally great on both... and im not just saying it, it really does. That is a BIG sigh of relief because that was a major issue for me. I did not want my girls feeling uncomfortable. Thank God everyone is happy :)
I found the dresses at Davids Bridal in cognac (burnt-orange/brownish color) The main reason I chose to go to David Bridal is because I have girl in 2 other states and 3 different cities so its easy for everyone. I'm buying their shoes and I found them at JCPenneys. I did not know it was so hard to find cute gold shoes now a days... thankful to find these. |
