Wedding Dress
I got my dress!
I wasn't planning on buying my dress this early, I'm horrible at making decisions and was worried I would find something that I liked better closer to the wedding day. But yesterday my mom and I went to a sample sale in Tyson's Corner and found an amazing Vineyard Collection gown for $1000! I couldn't pass it up, it's exaclty what I've been looking for: Alencon lace and trumpet style. Some of the dresses there were showing wear, but this one is in perfect condition no snags, rips, or broken zipper. I just have to get it cleaned, hemmed and bustled, it fits great. I'm so excited, I wanted to wear it to work today.

Wedding Reception
Candy Buffet
I had a couple of reservations about having a candy buffet at my reception. First, I didn't think the nicest way to start my marriage was to surround my diabetic husband with cake and candy. Second was that I am kind of sick of candy buffets. Spending time on wedding websites, I feel like the majority of brides are doing a candy buffet, and I try to be different. But after thinking about it, I do really like the look of candy buffets. They add a lot of color to the room and act as a decoration in addition to something the guests can eat. The average guest probably hasn't been at a wedding with this and seen it a million times before. It seems like a pretty easy DIY project, just get containers, scoops, candy, and bags for the guests to put the candy in. I really like the Love-Sweet-Love sign in the first picture, and the candy colors are right for me too. I love the layered look in the second picture. I think I am going to try to do this in my colors. Anybody know of affordable places to get candy and containers?

Reception Site
Here is a picture of the club house at night. I want to line the walkway to the front door with luminaries. Adjacent to the bar area is a patio where we will have cigars and what not for the men, I also want to put luminaries there.

Ceremony Site
I want green and white pomanders hanging from shepherd's hooks with a navy ribbon for the aisle. I like this picture with the tulle, but I am worried that it would be too much since the site has the great view. I will probably put waist high hooks at every other row of chairs. By the gazebo where we will be standing, I was thinking of having a taller shepherd's hook on either side of us. I don't really want to spend too much money on decorating the ceremony site since we will only be there for half an hour and I think my crafty aunt and I could make these fairly cheaply.

Decorating Delimma
I picked Swan Point because I really wanted to get married outside. The only problem with it, is the reception room. The walls are an ugly mint green color. My original color idea of white and black with bright yellow accents will not work in this room. So I'm thinking of using navy blue with a bright green, between a kelly green and a green apple shade. What do you think? Any color suggestions for this room?

Finally Picked a Venue
So Joe and I got engaged in March and are planning our wedding for September 2009. Since then I have looked at a million different locations including local venues, Rehoboth Beach, DE and Aruba. Well, I finally got around to making a decision on the location. We are not getting married in a Catholic Church despite my mother's best efforts, we will be getting married outside with the river behind us at Swan Point.
