Wedding Budget - It keeps growing!!! HELP!! - JUSTMEANDHIM's Purple Wedding by Color Blog

Ok so originally we had a budget of about 6k in the very begining. Then it went up to 8k and we thought it was done at that. Now realistically after getting back all the quotes and adding in the things that we've already booked we are looking at around 12k on the high end. That is including EVERYTHING, open bar, dinner, venue, dresses, tux, dj, cake, lighting, decorations, photography, and floral. Sigh, is it even possible to have a descent wedding for under 10k these days!!??!!

To help with our budget we are trying to keep our guest list to 75. We are only offering certain types of liquor, doing a buffet style dinner, no children are invited besides our neice and nephews.

How many times have you other ladies have gone over your budget and where did you draw the line?

You're not alone! We had a budget set at 10K and it has doubled to about 20K. And that is with family in the business helping out with stationery and flowers!

Man!! It's crazy!!! Glad to hear it's not just me dealing with this! So glad I'm 15 months away to save up what we need.

I'm in the same situation. I was trying to keep my budget to 15k, but the venue for the ceremony, reception, food ,and drink is 18k alone. Our total budget for everything is about 24k (not including our honeymoon or attire). I drew the line on the guest list. I was like it's no more than 150 coming. I still may take out the open bar to save money.

We were so very lucky that our parents paid for everything. In the end is probably cost my parents 14k and his parents gave us 4k. It is easy how a great idea can easily turn into 5k over spending! But our sunset cruise was so totally worth it instead of a dance reception!

We are paying for everything ourselves, and we drew the line at $20,000. Well, $21,000 tops (just got an early wedding present from FMIL :). So far, it's falling into places just fine, but I think I underestimated how much things could cost in the wedding industry. As soon as you say "Wedding", prices seem to skyrocket.

Wow where do you ladies live? OUr budget is $5000, and so far, I'm still under it! A lot of things are DIY, but with a lot of research and endless hours of searching the internet, I found a steal on pictures, flowers and a beautiful hall (heavily discounted because it just opened). I'm currently looking for a steal for my dress, so wish me luck! We have only 100 guests, and 4 people in our wedding party (maid of honor, best man, flower girl, ringbearer).
