This is kaj630's Orange Wedding!

So I haven't posted anything in 4 months and I can't believe how busy I have been. The Bachelorette Party was 2 weeks ago and I had a blast! Carey and the boys went on a camping trip in Arkansas and they had a great time as well. We stayed local for mine: dinner at Chili's where we pre-partied, partied harder at Rabb's bar til 2 am then morning after lunch at Johnny's Pizza (the best pizza place in Ruston). It was a great night with lots and lots of stories with some of the best friends a girl could ask for. Here are a couple of pics from that night.

Well we have a little over 4 months to go and things are in full swing!
Last week we got a ton of things done: ordered the cakes (the green and white one) and Carey's grooms cake is going to have a Rocky Horror Picture Show theme...we shall see, ordered napkins with our names on them, ordered 16 oz styrofoam cups with our names and a fleur de lis in copper for the beer at the reception and set up premarital counseling (first appt. is july 9th). Whew!
We still have alot to do but I feel so accomplished!

So I'm frustrated...I know it's probally silly but I am. I'm allowed to be every once in a while right?! I can't be "Mary Sunshine" 24-7. Maybe it's my PMS talking.

We have a friend of ours that is getting married 3 weeks before us. They have been together about 2 years & knew when our wedding date was since we got engaged (they got engaged 3 months after us). I know there is no law that says they can't do this BUT we had wanted the same guys in the Bridal Party (they were all fraternity brothers) & theirs is in Austin and ours is in Ruston. They've already told us that they're not even coming to ours since they will be on their honeymoon at that time, but how they hope we can make it to theirs. ummm...don't you think we'll be a little busy being that it's 3 weeks from our wedding and 6 hours away?! It is just sooo frustrating to me since Carey & I have been together for 6 1/2 years and it feels like they're trying to "steal our thunder". I just feel that "the guys" are going to go to theirs b/c it's sooner...I don't know...it just makes me sad. PLUS, we got their Save the Date in the mail yesterday!

Our Save The Date is in the process of being made (see pic). They will be sent out in the next week or so. We are printing them on cream colored cardstock, the tree will be a very light brown and the leaves will alt colors (red, orange, yellow, green, brown). We will have the 24th of October circled in red. I love them. I think they are so simple but nice and it reflects us very well. **We have tree with our initials carved in it!

Whoo! Well I've done some narrowing down...finally. There is a great cake place in Ruston that reminds me a lot of the Ace of Cakes people. We are going to enlist them to take on our cake. Totally untraditional wedding cake but hey why not?! We may change the color of the scroll work to match the bridesmais dresses...to a copper. We also will make the pumpkins color more orange than red and maybe add a fally looking "S" to the top, maybe made out of some kind of wire or wood...don't really know yet. Carey's cake is still up for debate. He said he wants a chocolate on chocolate...which is fine by me but he is still debating on doing something fun with it too.

I've also picked out the flowers....I'm pretty sure. In the pictures, my bouquet will be the first one with the calla lillies then my bridesmaids will carry the flowers in the 2nd picture on the right but smaller. I think I might put some burgundy roses in mine also. Then again it may not look right with my dress so I might just do peach or orange roses. We shall see. :)

So as I mentioned before, I ordered my dress about a month ago. We went to the grand opening at the Alfred Angelo in Shreveport. They were going to be giving away all kinds of goodies that day adn we figured that it would be fun just to go. My mom and sister went with me and we never thought we would find one. i had picked one out already that was completely different but when I walked out in this one there was a collective gasp. Soooo...we got it and I love it! Here are a few pics from that day. Did I mention they had free makeup and hair people there to help complete the "Bridal Look"? Awesome!

So we really felt like everything has been falling into place. We've put in our application at the church where we are plannig to get married to be approved, got my dress, booked the honeymoon, etc. We thought we had the reception site but that has been a chore it turns out. My mom has been in contact with the owner of the place very regularly. Since she asked to see a copy of the contract he has not contacted her again...she has sent several emails and left voicemails. People in our town say that he is very hard to get in touch with but I don't know why the sudden change. Mom will be here this weekend and is going to go by there to hopefully catch him and hopefully book the place, otherwise we are moving the entire wedding 30 minutes away to a bigger city. That will be fine but it's still stressful. Ahhh...I feel better now that I've vented a bit. Thanks for listening!

The past 8 months have gone by very quickly compared to the six and a half years we have been together! In 8 months we will be husband and wife...crazy! We have done some planning: picked a date, picked a honeymoon, bridesmaids dresses, brides dress, flower girl dresses and even registered at two places! We're pretty sure we've found our church and reception site as well. Whew! It feels like there is still so much to do but there is still a good bit of time...and yes I do know that it goes quickly. October is quickly approaching and we are very excited about all the upcoming events and tasks to do and complete to get to our wedding. We'll try to keep you updated on the planning and anything funny that happens along the way. I'm sure that we'll have some good stories. We hope you'll enjoy the ride with us.

Kelly's 25th birthday was on June 30, 2008. I had no idea this would be my best birthday ever! Carey Paul had taken me into our pasture to look at the stars (cool, clear, beautiful night) per my request. It was around 11:15 pm. We were lying in the bed of the truck just talking about the day. He was holding my hand and told me that my hand looked funny, like something was missing. It was so dark out there that I had NO IDEA what he was talking about and then he said, "Do you see what's missing?" and I said, "No" then he pulled the ring out and said, "I think it's this." Kelly burst into tears and he said through his tears "Will you marry me?" My reply was, "Are you serious? YES!!!" Then he put the ring on my finger, took my hands and said, "I want to tell you something. I love you so much. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, have children with you and grow old with you. You know that I am a confident guy and not alot makes me nervous, but I have been so nervous all day!" We laughed and cried and then started calling people immediately!
