20 days till the big day- Feeling depressed?
This may sound like a stupid question, but is anyone else having a hard time dealing with the stress of wedding planning 2 weeks before their wedding?
Right now I am home along, bumming on my bachelorette party, I really had hoped that more people would be involved or show enough interest in being a part of it and then on top of that there is still so many little things to still do for the wedding. I find myself thinking, fuck it, I really don't care about this stuff anymore. What's going to happen is going to happen. This whole wedding process is not what it's cracked up to be that's for sure. Why aren't I excited, happy, thrilled to be able to have an amazing wedding and officially be with the person I love. I feel like the stress has put a damper on my relationship, made me eat pb+js for dinner for lack of funds and has thrown me into twice as much therapy. Where is the light at the end of the tunnel, why am I saying, "I can't wait till this is over." Is that even normal for a bride to feel this way? I see brides on here posting up cute stuff from their wedding, getting pumped on DIY stuff and overall really excited for things to come together. I want to be one of you guys. I want to smile and say, hey my wedding is in 20 days.... But a las I'm alone at home wanting to be married already and starting my life with a smile on my face. Any advice? |

Wedding Decoration
Centerpieces!!
I have been slacking on my posts, so I thought I would also share some pics from my latest floral designer visit.
At first I thought we were only going to be able to afford a box of flowers even though I desperately wanted my manzanita trees all black wicked and scary with icicles dripping off of them to go with my winter in summer theme. Then! I showed up and walk in the door with the wind knocked out of me... There on the table were my custom tiffany blue linens with the damask box of flowers AND my black scary trees with creme roses on the branches and dangling crystals. My fave part had to also be the floating votives of candles that magically looked like they were floating. I instantly starting crying and couldn't believe my eyes. It was a dream come true. All I need now is my damask ribbon to wrap around the napkins and it will be perfect. So excited to see everything come together even though I've been stressing on every little detail. I have to say though that seeing the centerpieces finished with all my design concepts involved was a sigh of relief. Now onto the next challenge! By Square Root Designs in Irvine, California :-) |

Wedding Reception
Wedding Menu
FOOOOD! That's all everyone is going to think about when they get to the reception. After tossing back a few at cocktail hour and enjoying delectable finger foods, there's going to be a hungry crowd and the food better be good.
I've never been a fan of wedding food. Seriously gross chicken, roast beef, cold mash, or better yet, chinese food for the millionth time at a chinese wedding (I'm 1/2 chinese so I can complain ;-P) Anyway, God knows that I was skeptical when putting together my menu list and although it's been over a month since I've made some selections, I'm damn proud of enough to share my choices. The Opener- Mixed green salad, with Belgium endive, roasted baby beets, pistachio crusted goat cheese and truffle vinaigrette . The Entree'- Guest choice of mustard crusted chicken breast with garlic confit mash and herb lemon beurre blanc sauce or My fave, Pan seared crisp Tasmanian Trout encrusted in corn and smoke bacon. Green peas with Wasabi Emulsion or a Vegetarian Ravioli Almost there- Warm Choco Cake with Roasted Almond Ice Cream Finisher- Eat more cake! White cake with buttercream frosting and raspberry preserves. Delish and I tasted it all and can say that this wedding is not going to have gross cold chicken or roast beef and yes the warm choco cake is unpassable people WILL eat both, trruuuust me, haha. |

Wedding Reception
Place cards
I saw an amazing idea in a Y.W.D.- you're wedding day mag and wanted to attempt it myself. It was basically an iron dress form that you can dangle the names of your guests with their table assignments. I found a dress form for a reasonable price on ebay and started playing around with it last night.
I think I need ribbon or something... maybe even cut down the tags a bit. They seem a little big. Of course the names aren't on it just yet, but I plan on putting chandelier logos on it to match the rest of the decor. Trying to see what would go well with it and still give it that victorian bohemian feel. I aligned a few tags at the bottom to resemble a skirt or bottom of a dress, but I think with either some lacy damask ribbon or a torn up silk string it could really add a little something to it. Thoughts? :-) There's about 25 on there now with the back still open since I need to fit a total of 45-50 tags. |

Wedding Invitation
Stamps
I love zazzle.com, I was able to customize a couple different stamps with them and after I purchased a .pdf stationary off of etsy.com I made my chandelier stamps for my wedding invitations.
Little nervous right now though since my invites won't be done till friday since the calligrapher is taking a long time with these. Is it terrible that I'm sending out my invites less then 2 months till the wedding. Its more like a month and 3 weeks at this point. Ah well. Maybe I won't get as many rsvps and I can cut my list down, bwahahhahaha. |

Toasting Flutes!
My fiance's family surprised us with the most amazing toasting flutes ever. I wanted black, we asked for waterford crystal and we received these epic glasses.
I don't know how much more goth you can get with these, but they are super classy and I love my future in-laws for getting them. I am in complete heaven with a hellish grin. This wedding is going to be amazing! |

Rehearsal Dinner
I was on a mission to discover a dark romantic environment for my wedding rehearsal dinner, and for some reason, this one seemed to pop up whenever I did a search for one in the Dana Point area.
The owner/manager Anthony Bertoli is an interesting fellow but very nice in that mobster sorta I'm here to please you for the right amount, or maybe even in the vain of "I'm going to make you an offer you cannot refuse" HAHAHA.... After trying a few dishes off some preset menus we found ourselves saying... "This is the best Ceasar salad I've ever eaten" "Didya try the bread? It's so moist and rosemary-ish" "Lasagna is the winner, but I wonder what the Chilean SeaBass tatstes like" or my favorite... "Sir I'm ready to book when you are as long as you let me keep the mixed berry creme brulee as part of the dessert" Good eats, real Italians, great service, no funny biznass or you'll swim with the fishes ;-) |

Bachelorette Party In Hawaii
So seriously... I AM GOING TO HAWAII in literally 2.5 days... with mind you, 3 of my best friends ever w/ 2 happening to be part of my bridal shower.
Call it what you will but this is considered my early bachelorette party where I will get down with some dolphins and ride a turtle... Who knows maybe Stitch will be there with Lilo kickin it on the beach. What I do know is Oahu, HI very well. Been there a bunch of times and know about the secret horseback ride through the LOST set, and all that fun stuff. And for some crazy reason all of us can afford this trip no problem. With 4 girls total- round trip + 1 economy car = $250 per person We even got a 3 bedroom house on the Turtle Bay property for $196 per night for like 7 days.... it's kinda amazing on so many levels. That's like $400 per girl for an entire week. Fully stocked house etc. Check out the villa's blueprint. Of course I'm getting the King Bedroom, haha. I can't wait! xoxo |

Wedding Hair Style
Bridesmaids Hair Styles
Been going back and forth with what I want to do for my bridesmaids hair.... I want to keep it in the vintage/pin-up realm given the style of dresses everyone is wearing.
What are your thoughts on the ones attached? I like them because they are not entirely UP dos and I can still stand out being the only one with all of my hair up and man, my hair is going to be radddd sauuuce. Pictures to come. What are you guys having your bridesmaids do? Are you having a professional come out and help or diying it? We have to start hair and makeup at 8 am in order to have everyone ready by 1:30 for pics.... woosh! |

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids gifts!
Slowly but surely I am racking up all the bridesmaids gifts. It took me a while to figure out what to get since most of the stuff I see online is cheesy and easily breakable.
I know I'm not a baller, but I really wanted to give my girls something extra special. I mean, I felt like that guy in "I Love You Man" where I really didn't know who would want to be my bridesmaid. I grew up having a ton of guy friends and like 2 best friends. They were the obvious choices for the wedding, but as soon as my middle sister bailed out on my special day, it got me thinking about the girls who were so happy to be chosen to be a part of my ceremony... "Wow, it means the world to me that you would consider being a part of this." So I thought, if I'm going to break the budget a little, I'm going to save up for them. Maid of Honor Beth is incredibly devoted and special to me she is seriously my world. Beth was there when I first really got to know my soon to be husband, she's been there from the beginning, or at least where I can remember a beginning starting. She's taking care of all the stressful wedding planning stuff my planner isn't doing and is basically the most supportive person in the world. Whenever I need to get into a hippy mode or gossip like a little school girl, she's right there with me. Whenever I need to cry or throw up, she's holding my hair and wiping my tears. Sarah has been the glue to my sanity, she reminds me of where I belong. Whenever I feel left out, lonely or out of place, she's a constant reminder that I am loved and that I am worth a damn to her and others. She's incredibly artistic and has helped me so much with art directing a lot of the wedding stuff. Our relationship has only blossomed from this wedding process and I am so happy to have her there by my side. We have an asian bond as well. No one understands asian cuisine like we do... I'm 1/2 chinese and shes full thai, but together were a sushi roll that keeps on giving. Oh Sarah I love you man. Alicia is currently taking the place of my fallen sister, but she feels like a sister to me, and I literally bursted in tears when she said yes to the occasion. I've known her since she was a teenager and I have watched her become this incredible woman. She got married before I did and has given me great advice on marriage and life. I love her positive attitude and inspiring personality. She reminds me of the woman that I'd like to be in a marriage: loving, devoted, and supportive, and more then anything she keeps an important friendship bond with her husband that I can only hope to have with my man years from now. Brooke is my fiance's sister and has been family to me and the sister I never had as well. She's like a precious moments doll that you hide your cigarrettes in. She's the best secret-keeper ever and has the most angelic face. I confide in her with everything even the stuff she probably doesn't want to hear about her brother, haha. and Kristi.... my youngest sister... I love more then anything in this world, more then ANYTHING. More then my dog, more then my man, she is incredibly important to me... she's my mini me. I would kill for that little girl. She is the sweetest teenage goth girl alive. I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but seriously behind the black lipstick and marilyn manson t-shirt, she's amazingly caring. Oh god, I'm getting weepy. Just wanted to share some special words about them and show some of their gifts. I got them each a special Tarina Tarantino jewelry piece that matches their personality. |
