This is kaseylynne's Orange Wedding!

My fiance and I both attend Maine Maritime Academy and every year the freshmen and juniors leave on a two month training cruise. Well Andy was a junior this year so he left 10 days ago on a two month cruise. He is the cadet chief engineer, the highest ranking engineering student aboard the ship. He makes me so proud! He is a wonderful man and I feel so lucky to call him mine!!! I'll be missing him very much for the next two months and I can't wait until he comes home to me!!! Luckily he has email so he can still participate in making decisions for the wedding!!! :)

<-- While he is gone I'll take the chance to post a picture of my dress. I didn't before because I didn't want him to see. This really isn't a good picture of my dress, and mine will be in white unlike the one shown here.

We just ordered our cake topper; it is so simple and romantic!!! I can't wait for it to arrive!

We also ordered sand and pouring vessels for our sand ceremony! Now we just need to find the perfect vessel to combine our sands into... :)

My fiance and I just booked the tent, tables and chairs for our reception! We are lucky we called today because they only had one 30 x 40 Elite Canopy tent left!!! I'm very excited, that was one of the last major details that needed to be booked!!!


Now I just need to think of a simple way to decorate it!!! :)

Both, my fiance's and my mom, are pretty young (44 and 39), so we are going with bridesmaid dresses for them instead of the old, formal looking mother dresses offered in many stores. My mother picked her dress out last Saturday, but Andy's mom hasn't picked one yet. I love the one my mom is getting, and hope Andy's mom will get one with a similar color. :)

Wedding week starts on the food channel on Monday April 28! I love watching these shows, it's fun to see how creative people can get! Since our family is going to be doing the food for our big day we'll be looking for fun ideas that are easy to make and fun to eat!

On Saturday my fiance and I and our parents went cake tasting and ended up ordering the perfect cake for our wedding!!! It is going to have three tiers; the top and bottom tiers are going to be a chocolate sour cream cake with a raspberry filling and the middle tier is going to be a blueberry cake with blueberry filling! The frosting will be a tort frosting (this is a cream cheese type frosting) and is so delicious!!! For decoration the frosting will be smooth and white and there will be beads of frosting along the bottom of each tier. My future mother in law is growing all of the flowers for my wedding so we are going to take sunflowers and daisies to the bakery the day before the wedding and our baker will position them on the cake.

My bridesmaid, Amanda, and I made the three flower girls' wings last weekend! I think they came out pretty well. They are not quite done yet; they are going to have a few more glitter details and white and translucent ribbon to tie them to the girls around the arms. I can't wait to see them on the girls, but I don't think I'll give them to them until the rehearsal night. Let me know what you think!

We are hoping to have the decorations incorporate our garden/ beach theme. I was thinking of having chocolate rock pebbles and chocolate seashells around the bottom of each layer with lupines and lavender "growing" out of them. What do you girls think?

I love roses, orchids, and calla lilies! I'm hoping to get something like these pictures, but with lighter colors. :) I love when they wrap the stems with ribbon; I definitely want it done to my bouquet.

I think these are the dresses I want for my flower girls, only in the same colors as the bridesmaid dress, just opposite. A peach dress with an orange sash.

We bought our invitations this weekend at Michaels! They are very pretty! They are made from handmade paper that has flower petals and stems in it. The actual wording is printed on a vellum overlay. They match our wedding theme very well! I'm so excited to print them and get them mailed out!

We also picked out a cute stamp to make them more personalized. It is three interlocking hearts and we are going to use orange and red ink.

My MOH and best friend, Holly, took our engagement pictures the weekend before last weekend, and we got them last Friday! They didn't scan very well into the computer, but we are very happy with the way they came out! Thanks Holly!!! :)

Our wedding is this summer; my problem is that I work outside all summer, so I usually end up with really bad tan lines. Now I really don't want tan lines in my dress, but I've never been tanning at a salon before and I've always been afraid of turning orange from sunless tanning. Also, I have really light skin so I usually have to burn before I get tan. Does anyone have any advice?

UPDATE:
So it looks like I'll be trying sunless tanning. I think I'll try the Jergens stuff first. Then when I go to work I'll slather on sunscreen and hopefully will be able to make it to August without any tan lines. I've never been comfortable with the idea of tanning beds and it was nice to see other people agree. Thanks girls!!!

We are doing our own food, so a lot of it will be small sandwiches and similar items. I found these picks on weddingthings.com and thought that they would be perfect for our wedding, and my fiance agreed, so I ordered them!!! We both grew up on the ocean so they are very fitting!!! :)

My fiance and I are not really big drinkers, but we do enjoy a drink now and again. We are kind of debating whether or not to serve alcohol at our wedding reception... The site charges more for parties that have alcohol served and we are on a pretty tight budget so it would save us some money to not serve it. We are thinking of doing a lot of fruity type drinks because we'll be getting married during the early afternoon this August. We aren't really sure whether or not having no alcohol will change our reception experience... What do you guys think?

Thanks for all of the advice! We've decided to go without alcohol for many reasons, and instead we are going to do a bunch of really fun drinks. We are thinking of doing fruit punches filled with the fresh berries and fruit that will be available during August, and maybe root beer floats, and virgin pina coladas and strawberry daiquiris! For a signature drink we will probably do a pomegranate sparkling cider. :)

I really want my flower girls to wear fairy wings at the wedding. I've loved fairies since I was a little girl and I think it will be perfect to have little fairies running around my garden wedding. I was thinking of buying the wings, but I was just looking online and I found a few really good ideas on how to make them yourself! I think this may be one of my DIY projects!!! I think it will be sooo much fun!!! :)

Andy and I have decided on our attendants! My best friend Holly will be my Maid of Honor, my friend and roommate Amanda will be my bridesmaid, and my cousin Cailyn will be my junior bridesmaid. I'm also having three of my little cousins be flower girls; I'm going to have them wear fairy wings down the aisle! Andy's oldest brother will be his best man and both of our younger brothers will be his groomsmen. Another of my cousins will be the ring bearer! I don't have pictures of everyone yet, but I'll post them when I do. :)

We booked our reception site yesterday!!! I'm so excited! It is going to make our garden themed wedding complete. We'll go from being married in a Chapel in the middle of gardens on the ocean, to a small building and gazebos in the middle of gardens for the party!!! It's small but we plan on having a small guest list so our wedding will be very intimate. It also has all of the amenities that we need; since we are going to be doing our own food we really needed a kitchen that we could use and they have one! I'm so happy that we found a place that is exactly what we were looking for, and, to make things easier, it is managed by the same people as our ceremony site!

We went dress shopping this weekend!!! I found my wedding dress and it is gorgeous, but I can't say too much about it or post a picture because my fiance sees this page and I want it to be a big surprise. We also picked out the bridesmaids' dresses and we love them!!! We are going with tangelo for the dress and peach fizz for the bow; I think it will look so nice in August in the gardens. My junior bridesmaid's dress is going to be the same just the smaller version and she is soo cute in it! I also picked out a few accessories for the big day, but again I can't give to many details.

Today we got our ceremony site booked!!! We are so excited. The site has beautiful gradens surrounding the small chapel that will make our outdoor themed wedding enchanting!!!

All day I was subconsciously expecting the proposal. The morning of, he left for two hours and came back with flowers and all I could think was, "It does not take 2 hours to get flowers!" By the end of the night, however, I had convinced myself that it wasn't going to happen. Then after dinner he asked me what I was thinking as I cleaned up the dinner mess. I responded by just saying that I was "wishing", he asked what for? So, as I walked back to the living room, I said "that you might have actually gotten a ring and you might actually..." and as I turned around he was getting on his knee and opening up the box, saying, "Kasey, Will you marry me?" I was so shocked my heart jumped up into my throat and I hardly saw the ring as I wrapped him up into a huge hug, saying "YES!" The rest of the night was amazing and since we were watching "Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium" we'll be buying a copy to remind us of the night. :) To think, I believed I was just dreaming all day!!!
