Ask a Question
Tanning?
Our wedding is this summer; my problem is that I work outside all summer, so I usually end up with really bad tan lines. Now I really don't want tan lines in my dress, but I've never been tanning at a salon before and I've always been afraid of turning orange from sunless tanning. Also, I have really light skin so I usually have to burn before I get tan. Does anyone have any advice?

UPDATE:
So it looks like I'll be trying sunless tanning. I think I'll try the Jergens stuff first. Then when I go to work I'll slather on sunscreen and hopefully will be able to make it to August without any tan lines. I've never been comfortable with the idea of tanning beds and it was nice to see other people agree. Thanks girls!!!

Have you thought of starting to tan now?
this way you will already have a tan before summer.
You will probably find that you enjoy it, its rather relaxing!
I have been tanning for the last few weeks (8 maybe)
and I have less pimples, and more confidence!
Do follow up with us please!

oh goodness. please don't go to a tanning bed.  i'd take acne over melanoma any day.  and what's wrong with being light skinned?  i'm ghost white and i love it because i get compliments all the time and i stand out.  if you do want a little color, i'd use aveeno's radiance moisturizer.  it's great for light complexions (like mine) and builds up slowly.  i'm using it now because i wouldn't mind a bit of color on our honeymoon and it looks really good!  i hate sunless tanners so i was extremely skeptical when trying this one (this is why i tried it so far in advance) but it looks good.  if you've never tanned before i just wouldn't start.  it's a horrible habit that will make your skin dry and leathery as you age and if you're the only who doesn't tan while all your friends do, then your skin will only look that much better.

I heard from my Best Girl that Jergen's tanning stuff works well, but you have to use it everyday. Or do the spray tan thing (NOT MYSTIC TAN).

i tan very well but I never do it cause I don't want skin cancer or wrinkles. I only use sunless tanners. My favorites are the jergens you have in the picture but you do need to use it everyday for week to get results. Jergens has a new one, expres tan that works much faster but if you put it on quickly, you may get streaky. If I use this everyday (I generally use it every other) after 4 days I will look orange but I don't have that problem with any other product.  I's not that bad though cause you're tan in 3 hours so if you put it on in the morning you an see any streaks by noon and fix them before the eveing. I'd recommend using the regular Jergens first to get practice. Spray tans are great but expensive and after about 3 or 4  days I always had trouble with them turning my clothes brown.  The store bought tanners I only have this problem if I wear white before showering the lotion off.

I agree with Maria, don't go to a tanning bed, there's too many options these days to do that to your skin.

Not to mention, I had a friend get skabies, a couple weeks before her wedding, from a tanning bed, well, that's what she said!

I use Jergens everyday after my bath.  It keeps a nice light glow.
Tried Mystic tan and what a mess.  And at my age no tanning in the sun or I will look like..."my mom"....LOL

Please Please Please do not go to a tanning bed. I am a red head with light white skin and I've always managed to get a nice slight tan outside so I decided that for my sister's wedding a few years ago I would go to a tanning bed to get a nice glow. Well, let me tell you what my nice glow turned into...Skin cancer! I first noticed a little mole which was really small and I thought it was just a heat rash from the bed until it started to get really red and itchy. I went to my doctor and had it removed however finding out a few days later that it was Malignant Melanoma (skin cancer). I had to go see a skin specialist and then to a surgeon to have a larger area of skin removed and now I have a scar approximately 1 1/2 inches long across my chest area. The cancer is gone now but tanning beds are not worth it. Not to scare you but your health just isn't worth a little "glow" for one day.

Take these other girls advise and try the sunless tanning stuff. I've also heard now that some people use the spray on tan which is expensive however it lasts approximately 1 week. These are always better options...trust me! Just give some of them a try and see how they work out for you and then you'll know which ones will work for your day!

I've used both Jergens and Dove tinted moisurizers and I liked them both.

I am going to get a spray tan (a few lighter ones to make sure all is even) before the wedding... I am going to get the kind where someone sprays you with the gun and not stand in the machine because it comes out more uneven... goodluck
