This is kates62's Red Wedding!

I am not overly worried about the cake. Hopefully by the time this rolls around everyone will be having so much fun that they won't pay too much attention to it! I think what we will most likely do is have a fairly simple cake made (carrot maybe or white pound cake). We would also get a sheet cake from Costco or something so that everyone has their cake and eats it too! :)

Here are some simple yet pretty cakes that I would consider...

I always like wearing my hair up for formal things but Craig has expressed that he would like it "down and different"...hmm, what does that mean. I love loose curls but want to wear a flower in my hair. I am leaning towards loose curls with a little bit up...either right from the top of my head or more from the sides and pushed up a bit. I don't even know if I am going to be a blonde or brunette for my wedding day! argh!

I have six wonderful bridesmaids. Although I prefer short dresses, I think we are going to go with long dresses mostly because of the season. I know, I will eat my words if it is 30 degrees that day but it could also be -10! Who knows! I also think it will look really elegant!

Here are some ideas that we are thinking of...

I am still not too sure what to do about flowers. I really like orange and red together but I am not sure that it will work as my bridesmaids have red dresses. I love a mix of callalillies and gerberas though. Maybe I could have red and orange so that I match the girls but they could have orange callalillies or gerberas? I don't know!

After several searches and trying on MANY dresses, I finally found "the one". The problem was that I loved so many dresses and so many styles that it was impossible to choose. I guess at the end of the day I tried this one on, it was a liquidation model, in my size and I pranced around in it like a two year old! No tears from Mom but she liked it too! :)

We are getting a band for our reception! Craig has not been overly exctied about the planning for the wedding and so when he came home one evening very excited about meeting a guy at a party who could play at our wedding I couldn't say no!

We went and saw Ewen and his band at the Heart and Crown in Ottawa as well as at Hurley's in Montreal and we are very excited about him performing at our wedding!

The band is essentially a cover band that has "celtisized" many songs. Hopefully this will result in a night full of jumping and dancing! He will also be bringing an i-pod docking station so we can play music for various tastes as well (aka a few '90s dance tunes!)

We absolutely wanted to hold our reception at a golf club. Craig and I love golfing together, with friends and family and wanted to have a relaxed yet beautiful setting for the reception.

This venue is also special as my grandparents were members at this club many years ago!

Well, I never thought I would be the type of bride to do this. I am really not overly into the whole wedding planning thing at the moment but I have slowly but surely been putting the big day together. After seeing one of my best friend Franny's wedding blog however I figured I should get myself organized! Plus it looks like fun! So, here goes nothing!
