It's all about the details
Our wedding is now less than 200 days away! I cannot believe how fast it is going...I thought that a 15 month engagement would be too long, but now with just about 6.5 months to go, I still feel like I just got engaged yesterday! I am also coming to realize how many details there are that can make or break my vision.
I just received my necklace in the mail and this is it! I love diamonds and pearls together and this necklace ties in with the bridesmaids necklaces, the journey style. It was very reasonable in price and I ordered it just 4 days ago and already have it...fast shipping! |

Wedding Flowers
Bridal Bouquet
I LOOOVE this bouquet from the colors to the flowers to the shape to the stem wrap...everything! I think I would add just a few bouquet jewels. I fear, though, that there is possibly not enough white it in. I personally do not care, but I am wondering, is it more traditional to have a predominately white bouquet?
I plan for the bridesmaids to have an all fuchsia rose bouquet probably with a black stem wrap. |

Wedding Hair Style
What was I thinking?!
I'm not quite sure what I was thinking. I chopped 6 INCHES of my hair off 9 months before the wedding! I am enjoying my shorter hair because it is much more manageable but there is no way it is going to be long enough by September to do what I now want to do with it! Initially I was going to wear it all up, so I thought I was fine cutting it. Now I feel like I want it half up, but it won't be long enough for what I have in mind! I have started taking Biotin in hopes that it will help somewhat. Wishful thinking I'm sure, but I guess it won't hurt to try! It's definitely grown somewhat in the month and a half since I did the cut...whew!

Shoes
Pump it Up
These shoes are kind of what I want, but I don't think they are quite it. The shoes I really want are the pumps that were on the cover of "Brides" magazine a few months back...you may remember the fuchsia shoes and bouquet. I just cannot find them anywhere. I think I am going to have to wait until spring/summer when more of those colors will be out. For those of you who think that I will not survive even half of my wedding night in these type of shoes, believe me, I am sure I can. I am definitely used to wearing taller heels...it's worth it :)

Ask a Question
Thoughts on Honeymoon to Cabo?
My fiance and I are pretty set on going to Cabo for our Honeymoon. We would leave September 8th of this year. Does anyone have any experiences with Cabo or recommendations of any resorts? I'm not really sure where to start with this one, but we definitely gotta get going on the planning!

Wedding Reception
Marcus Center for the Performing Arts
I just love, love, love our reception site! The PAC is a well-known landmark in downtown Milwaukee and is located on the river! The patio off of our hall overlooks the river and there is also an outside garden area for the guests during cocktail hour. The place is huge, can hold up to 500 guests, and the whole floor is wood, an instant dance floor! I am so excited to celebrate as a newly married couple at this outstanding place!

Wedding Cake
To Faux or Not to Faux?
Ladies, this may be a very easy way to save some dollars! I walked into a local bridal shop and saw this cake on display. I thought that maybe it was just a sample to display for a cake place. I took a picture because I really like the look...love it actually and I wanted that exact one for our wedding. I was then informed that it was a faux cake for rental...what a novel concept! I just don't understand why there is not more of this. This cake was made by a lady and she actually used fondant and just sprayed it with something to preserve the whole thing. She rents this, and others, for $150-$200 (there is a set-up/delivery fee, deposit that will be used towards the cost, and a security-deposit refundable if returned in the same condition). She also makes an 8-inch round cake for cutting ceremony purposes. She will also do custom cake designs for $100 above the aforementioned costs (still a steal!). The trick then is to order a sheet cake from either her or any place of your choosing and serve that to the guests. You can either bring the faux cake in the back just before serving so that the guests will not know that it is fake, or leave it on display all night long. I think this is such a great way to save hundreds of dollars and is an absolute no-brainer.

Bridesmaids
Classic Black
This is the dress that I picked out for my EIGHT Bridesmaids, but of course, the color will be black (don't get me wrong, I do love the pink color and briefly entertained the thought of going with that...it looked great on my MOH). I initially toyed with the idea of black tea-length dresses, but decided on full-length for a number of reasons:
1. I think that having full-length will add formality to the look, especially going with classic black. 2. I want my girls to pick out their own shoes to wear with the only requirement that they are open-toed. By having them pick their shoes I hope to decrease their cost. With a floor length dress, the shoes they do go with will not be as visible. 3. We will all look more cohesive. I obviously have bridesmaids of different heights, and quite a difference I might add. Having the hemlines all at the same spot will look more polished (in my eyes at least...I am kind of OCD). I'm waiting for the remaining four to order theirs, but two of my out-of-town maids already have theirs! |

Wedding Dress
I found it!
I can honestly breathe a sign of relief...it feels so good! Maggie Sottero's Dallas Marie was the one! I ordered it this past Saturday after seeing it and trying it on for the first time. My actual dress will be slightly different in that it will be white (pictured is a creamish color?). It has everything that I wanted...strapless, somewhat of a dropped waist, rouching, pick-ups and a bubble hem. It's funny because I started out by wanting a more "plain" dress (by plain I mean no elaborate beading and lace) but as I tried on dresses, I was kind of drawn to the more traditional, "gaudy" ones, but something just didn't feel right about those, so I came back to the plain. I was becoming stressed out about the fact that I had not found "the one" yet. I had been to only three stores before this but tried on what felt like every dress ever made. I had many people telling me that I would just get that feeling and know it was the right one when I found it. Trying on so many dresses before and liking some but not quite having that feeling, I just figured that I wasn't like everyone else. So, I set four dresses aside that I definitely liked and decided to go back at a later date to try on and finally pick it out. I ended up going back with my mom and my future sister-in-law and mother-in-law. I left feeling so frustrated and confused because I ended up hating all of them! After that, I continued my search online and I came across the Dallas Marie. I immediately thought to myself, this could be the one. I made an appointment for that Saturday with a good, positive feeling. It was the last dress that I had picked out at the store to try on and I immediately knew! I wanted to order right away! My mom asked me if I wanted to sleep on it, and my response was that I had slept enough! So...it's ordered and I cannot wait until it comes in!
