And on a lighter note...

Now that I've calmed down (sort of), I feel as though I should do something productive with my now 3 hours I've been on this site haha and put some planning ideas up!

I'm pretty sure we're jumping on the band wagon and going for a cupcake cake! The reason for this though is because my FH has MAJOR food allergies (dairy, meat -other than chicken-, seafood, etc.) So most cakes and frostings have a lot of dairy in them. For some reasons cupcakes, or at least the ones my FH makes, don't have dairy in them. Plus, he loves things mini like mini-pancakes, mini-chicken burgers, mini- anything. He even cuts all his food into to mini pieces! (he would KILL me if he read this post haha).

I just had him try red velvet cake this past weekend because I was thinking it went well with our color scheme AND there's no dairy in it (killing 2 birds with 2 stones!). He LOVES it and that night before I fell asleep he tells me, "i'm so excited to have red velvet cake at our wedding" awwww. He's wonderful sometimes.

Enough with my ranting and sidetracks lol. Here are some ideas for the cupcake cake going with the red and damask scheme though.

My roomate thinks cupcakes at a wedding are tacky? I think it's very practical but then again does that imply tacky? What do you all think?

i dont think cupcakes are tacky at a wedding. its kinda the 'new thing'. Alot of ppl use them.

I think the pic of cupcakes in the inspiration board picture are adorible!  I also really like your pic #2.

I don't think they're tacky at all.  I think they were very popular a few years ago, so some people think they're not "in" anymore, but cupcakes are so adorible. Who doesn't love cupcakes?  If I had to guess, there will always be a bride who loves cupcakes, who wants them at her wedding.  And, like you say, they are practical.

such cute ideas!! I sooo wanted reds shoes w/a bow!! But of course I chickened out, but i'm happy with what i have.

The cupcakes are soo cute!

And that one cake with scrolling and dots.... beautiful!! I'm may have to rethink my cake...

Cupcakes are totally not tacky! I honestly have as just as many cupcake wedding orders as I do cakes, if not more! First, I love your inspiration board(!) and think you're right on with your idea for cupcakes.  Killing 2 birds with 2 stones - ha!  That made me smile.  Make your wedding your own, reflecting you and your hubby to be, and don't waste too much time worrying whether or not something is "tacky."  (I hate that word!)  My goal with our wedding is for our guests to say "this is so you guys" and if that means a few people think we should have stuck more with tradition, so be it...

I love your inspiration board.  I'm getting married on Valentines Day and have a chocolate, red, and ivory theme!  I am also having cup cakes and love the idea.  Would you be able to tell me where you found those red shoes?  Love them!
