Centerpieces and cake stands
I decided that using different size mason jars in the center of our tables would be a fun way to make our reception a little funky and casual. At first i was going to buy mason jars for the occasion until i realized that my husband and i love eating pasta. The correlation is, instead of buying mason jars, we can save our pasta sauce jars until the wedding and we'll have plenty of jars for the centerpieces and possibly to hold candy as well. Although washing and storing pasta jars may be a little more work than simply buying them, i think the bonus of saving money and recycling is well worth the effort!!
Cake stands are another thing that i've decided to make instead of buying. A simply way to create a wonderful cake or cupcake stand for a very reasonable price is to either set or affix a plate (glass, plastic, porcelain etc) on top of a candle holder. You can find both candle sticks and plates at dollar stores for very very cheap. These cake stands are often much more beautiful than ones i've seen in stores. If you would like to add a personal touch or have a crafty friend who you can wrangle into the process, go ahead and decorate your plate and candle stick. Porcelain markers, decoupage, and non toxic paint or even stickers can add that extra umpfh to a plain cake stand! |

Darn "Tiffany" blue
I love the color Tiffany blue. the only problem is that there really isn't a "Tiffany" blue. It seems that Tiffany blue is actually a turquoise and only Tiffany's can use "tiffany blue" and now i need to comb through all of the different shades of Turquoise and similar blues and figure out what color we actually want! On the brightside, it's Christmas eve and i refuse to let this get me down, I WILL PERSEVERE!!
