Wedding Music And Songs
Difficult!
Wow. I didn't realize that picking out wedding music would be one of the hardest decisions for me and Ritchie to make! I have a couple decided, but the others are causing me some stress!
First dance (previous post): Tangled Up - Aaron Lewis *This is a 4 and a half minute song and I almost feel like that's too long. Maybe I can figure out a good place to have it fade out so it isn't quite so long. Prelude: I figure we'll just make a playlist of 30-45 minutes worth of love songs we like. Our wedding isn't going to be super formal and traditional, so I figure we will have a lot of random music that all of our guests can identify with. Wedding Party (family included): ?!? I have no idea! Suggestions? Bridal entrance: I Won't Give Up - Jason Mraz *I think I'm going to have a family friend just play this on an acoustic guitar. I don't know whether I want him to sing or not. The instrumental parts of this song are just beautiful! Unity Sand: ?? I'm sure we can come up with something... Recessional: ?? What songs are you ladies using? |

Wedding Rings And Jewelry
Necklace suggestions?
So...I'm really picky when it comes to jewelry, so I'm starting the search now. I very rarely wear anything other than my engagement ring, my late grandmother's wedding ring, and a pair of diamond studs.
My dress has a sweetheart neckline. It will cover my girls better when it is in the right size, but I'm not sure whether or not I should wear a necklace or what kind. We're having to order the dress in a much larger size in order to cover the girls, so alterations will be fun. The only necklaces I ever really wear are a small silver heart that Ritchie gave me or a small princess cut diamond on a white gold chain from my parents. The picture of the ring is one that I found on Pinterest. I would absolutely LOVE to find a pair of earrings that are just large (ish) studs that are set like that. The third picture is a headpiece I bought at The Icing just to have something to try on with dresses. I actually really, really like it. I'm not dead set on using it, but that is the plan for now. I haven't decided about my hair either. It's a June wedding, so I'm not sure if I'm brave enough to wear my hair down. I tend to sweat a lot...Sorry, TMI. If I wear it up at all, it will be a low, side-swept bun of curls. Easier to upload photo...*pause for photo upload* Ok, there we go. What type of jewelry are you wearing and what type of neckline does your dress have? |

Wedding Cake
Sam's Club Cupcakes
Hello ladies!
While searching on Pinterest the other day, I came across a pin that led me to a link where a bride said that she ordered her wedding cupcakes from Sam's Club. She said they charge $12 for 30 cupcakes. Sounds like a pretty good stinking deal to me! Has anyone ever used Sam's bakery before? |

Wedding Decoration
Rustic decorations
Again with Pinterest. All of these ideas came from there. It's like crack...lol
I bought a yard of burlap at Hobby Lobby to play with and it was more expensive than I had hoped. Luckily, I found a link (on Pinterest...ha!) to a site that has cheaper supplies. They have cheaper burlap and I was able to find some other cute things I could use. http://www.save-on-crafts.com/juteroll.html If anyone happens to know how to make the flower in picture #3 and wanted to share that information, I would be eternally grateful! :) Happy planning, ladies! |

Wedding Invitation
DIY - Question?
I came across this invitation on Pinterest, also known as Heaven. I love how simple it is. There are some changes I would make, like getting rid of the lace and instead of the pumpkin at the top, I would either add our thumbprints forming a heart or even just move the wording up so there didn't need to be anything there.
I really want to print these myself. I have high quality printers available to me, so why couldn't I? My only issue has been finding paper like this. I've check Hobby Lobby's supply of scrapbook paper and didn't find what I was looking for. Do any of you have suggestions as to where to find lightly textured brownish colored paper? |

Wedding Dress
Allure = beautiful!
I've found my dress! I had been shopping around and found a couple that I thought could be "the one" until I saw pictures of myself in them. Gag!
I gathered what I liked about all of the dresses I've seen so far and put it together. I found some online that were pretty much what I wanted, but I couldn't find them anywhere near me to try on. I finally stumbled upon Allure 8861. It is simple. It has a corset back, so it makes my waist look great. The fabric is amazing. I am in love. We went ahead and paid for it, but didn't order yet. My wedding is a year away (exactly a year from yesterday), so the store said it might be safer to wait a few months to order in case I lose or gain (NO!) weight. I'll be coaching volleyball in the fall, so I think she was right; I have ever intention of at least toning up a bit. One of my bridesmaids is getting married a couple weeks before me (we had our date and were engaged LONG before she was) and my mom was concerned that I'd change my mind about my dress after going dress shopping with her. WRONG. We went to 4 different stores yesterday and I didn't see a single thing that I loved like I do my dress. I'm so ready for Ritchie to see it! Come on, June 8! |

Wedding Music And Songs
First dance song?
So originally, I had planned on using "First Dance" by Corey Smith as our first dance song because my fiance and I both love his music and we randomly dance to that song in our living room all the time.
Well, I played that for my MOH (who is also my cousin) before I was ever engaged and told her how much I loved it. Well my aunt got engaged a couple weeks before I did and my MOH played the song for her...and guess what her first dance song is now? Yeah. I was super frustrated. My aunt and her FH didn't even know who Corey Smith was...and they still don't know ANY of his other music. She is 10 years older than I am and has done this kind of stuff my whole life. Whatever. Ritchie and I went to a concert this past weekend. It was Aaron Lewis, the lead singer of the band Staind, giving an intimate acoustic show. It was amazing. He played a song that made my heart melt. There was actually a man who proposed to his girlfriend during this song. I love this song. I'm hoping Ritchie would be okay with it being our first dance song :) "Tangled Up" -- Aaron Lewis http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22hvEdaPSMs&feature=related |

The Proposal
I am engaged!
Ritchie and I have been together since May 28, 2009. The entire time we've been dating, he has been very adamant about not wanting to hurry into marriage. His parents divorced when he was young and his dad has been divorced another time since then. He has seen what divorce can do and, obviously, doesn't want that to happen to him. So you can only imagine how surprised I was when he popped the question on my 22nd birthday/New Year's Eve 2010!
We had just come home from dinner and a movie and I had to go to the bathroom, so as soon as we walked in I had to run to the bathroom! As I walked out, he was standing by the table and said, "I have your birthday present." I walked up to him, he got down on one knee, and then proceeded to ask me to make him the happiest man alive by marrying him. I, of course, said yes...after telling him to stop kidding around ; ) Because we are so young, we intend to have a pretty long engagement. We're both in the process of finishing school (he is in the police academy and I have a year left before I graduate with my Bachelor's for teaching). We would like to be settled into a nice home and each have begun our careers. The date listed here is just one I came up with. It is close to our anniversary and I'd like to have a spring/summer wedding. |
