I'M MARRIED!!!!!!
part 2 - wedding day
i'm grabbing pics from friends & family as i can to post for everyone. plus i just wanna see them :) i've been loving what i've been seeing. (&& i'm eating some of my wedding cake as i type - delicious!!!!) lacey, my photographer, said she won't really have pics for us for about 2 weeks which i can wait for (i think i can! haha).
at 7:30 am on the weddng day (i had been up already! haha not even on purpose), my friend kristen showed up to get ready to do the bridal party hair, and michelle & the rest of the bridal party showed up around 8am. we all just chilled as our hair (and my makeup) was done in my family room - drinking champagne :D yummm. around 10:45, the bm's got dressed & left to go meet up with the boys & the limo at the cotton company, where we were having our reception (so they were running behind, whatevs, everyone made it on time!). when they left, my mom & i got her ready as we waited for my dad to come pick me up. his gps took him all over the place & he got to my house at the time i was suppose to be at the church. we finally arrived at the church about noon, where we met up with lacey (who was busy taking pics of the outside of the church) & we headed inside to my lil room to get ready in. my flowers were waiting there - i loved them!! so pretty :) i got into my green crinoline & corset (which left some mean bruises on my sides haha) and just sort of hung out while waiting for the limo to arrive with my bm's. my sister-in-law, deb, placed my grandpa's (not the recently deceased :\) black 1st communion rosary (from the 1920s) & a locket kev's mom had received for her 18th birthday (which Aunt Rose had given to me the night before, after a tearful exchange - kev's mom had passed away 4 years ago) in my bouquet so that they dangled down. when the ladies all arrived, i began getting dressed & i believe it was about this time it started to sink in that "holy crap! i'm getting married!" i started getting a lil jittery & couldn't stop smiling, lacey was having a hard time trying to get me to be serious in some pics! haha. but i kept getting told that i was so calm & collected, which was kind of a surprise to me but i loved hearing it! i think that's really what helped me REALLY enjoy every second of the day. but that was my whole mission since i started planning - not once had i ever said this day must be PERFECT or that NOTHING must go wrong. i knew that there would be mistakes, but i never let myself stress. all that mattered in the end was that i was married to kev by the end of the day. :) before the ceremony, & before guests started arriving, lacey & her photographer buddy, dana, arranged it so that i could get the "before" door pose i really wanted. the church we got married in has these two BIG wooden doors leading into the chapel, & i wanted to get a picture of either one of us on each side - note: NOT SEEING EACH OTHER - but holding hands around the door before the ceremony. i cant wait to see the pro pics of that. |

part 1 - snafus
i'm still just so excited & cannot believe i'm married!!! i've been married 5 days! how exciting :)
the wedding was GREAT! much more than i anticipated, actually, not gonna lie! sure there were a few shockers - but nothing big or too bad. i think the most devastating part of the whole day was my green balloon shot. kev & i had bought green balloons & had them filled with helium to get some pics of just him & me after the ceremony - when our photographer & us went to grab them from our limo they were gone! tim, the driver, had been cleaning out the limo since he had dropped off the rest of the party at the reception site & we think he threw them away without realizing we were still planning on using them. so that was disappointing :( the only other snafu that happened was at the church rehearsal friday night they informed kev & me that our priest (fr. david that we had met with & interviewed with) was no longer doing our ceremony due to a shoulder injury - which my brother-in-law, chris, joked "oh yeah, i can't bench press the homily now!" then, since our new priest, fr. emmett, was new to our church, the way we practiced the service at rehearsal was a LOT different during the real ceremony (not that any guests actually knew) -which made for a very interestingly awkward first kiss! haha. oh well. we loved every minute of the day & wouldn't redo it!! *all non-pro pics* |

i'm officially mrs. johnson now!!! i'm so exciteddddd.
the wedding was WONDERFUL! a few mishaps but nothing major or bad at all. we were pretty happy with how things ended up - we thought it was a FABULOUS wedding (&& so did everyone else). fun, intimate, & spectacular. i can't wait for pro shots!!! i'll share more details after we return from the mini moon & i have some photos to show :) i can't believe it!!!! May 15, 2010!!!!! what a beautiful day :D |

my grandpa died
so today was a normal saturday to start - but i was super excited because, well, i get married in 1 week! i got into work about 8:30 to start my 10-hour shift i work every freakin saturday. i had been there almost 4 hours when my dad called me at work (my family NEVER calls me at work, especially because i live in NC & they live in WI, OH & MN) so that made me nervous from the get go because my grandpa has been pretty sick for the last year and a half. but he called & told me that my grandpa died :( i just broke down crying which is not fun considering i was sitting at the front desk of the salon i work or which is PACKED on saturdays. luckily i work for great stylists who took over for me.
it has not sunk in yet. i know he's not in pain anymore & that he didn't suffer when it happened but i just can't believe it. he just turned 84 on april 29 & he told my mom he hoped he would make it until then. && my parents keep telling me they feel so horrible about the timing (my poor grandma did too & i said omg i don't even care about that) - but it's even harder because my grandparents live in the U.P. & since this IS my wedding week i don't even get to go to his funeral because there's no way i can. my work has no problem giving me the time off it's just the whole i have no money to fly up there & my parents don't want me worrying. i guess none of my siblings are going - it's just going to be my parents, my mom's sister & hubby, & my grandma. my grandpa wanted to be cremated & when my dad told me a mere hour after i was informed of his passing that they were cremating my grandpa then i believe my response was "oh godddddddd" folllowed by blubbering & tears. it kills even more because i haven't seen my grandpa since last thanksgiving & that kevin never even got to meet him. && knowing that i'll never get to see my grandpa again, hug him again, leave him notes that say "you're weird" again.. it hurts. i wanna be able to hug him. i keep seeing reminders everywhere. i opened my wallet & there's a check in there from him that he sent me last month along with a note that says "please spend this on something special to remember your grandma and me by. we're so proud of you and love you so much". they weren't going to be able to make it to my wedding - they're both too immobile, but i still can't believe that when i walk down the aisle i won't be able to share that with him. |

oh wow! may 15 brides - how ya doing?!?! I'm so excited over here. i think my non-focusedness is starting to kick in today. i already told my boss i was sorry in advance for my lack of focus & she just laughed :)
not too much left for me over here to do, which is awesome, but at the same time i feel like i should be doing so much!!! i can't wait. |

Wedding Hair Style
trial 2
we did hair trial 2 today (luckily all at my work!). the first time i tried out a hairstyle i really LOVED but it didn't fit my style nor look good on me. so we decided to try just doing a low side messy bun idea. we loved it! so did some of our clients that were in :) plus i have pictures this time.
only problem now is that i can't wear my veil since it'll look weird : suggestions?? SIDENOTE: i am wearing a pretty awesome headband with swarovski crystals :) (& veil doesn't make it, just sad i can't wear it but whatevs!) |

omg! so today at work, my friend was looking at my photographer's website because she loves our engagement photos & i always talk about how amazing lacey is! like her work is BEAUTIFUL & i'm so pumped for her to be doing my wedding. but anywho -we watching the picture show on the main page & guess what?! galore
so i came home to a doorstep full of goodies. i love getting mail! i'm gonna feel so deprived after the wedding i may just have to order things galore from sephora.. haha. but the fh's wedding gift came in. it's beautiful (& heavy & shiny!). i've been working on setting the time - it shows the day, date & time. at first only the day would change, but now i can get everything else to change but not the day! (it's wrong) but it currently says wednesday 28 so maybe tomorrow i'll just mess with the time? hah. but it's great, now i just need to take it in to be engrave [[plus figure out what it's going to say! should it say our wedding date in roman numerals - V.XV.X - or a lil sumthin sumthin?).
another thing to arrive was our cake serving set. we didn't really like any of the ones out there & they were too expensive for something we don't know how often we'll use. i had found a BEAUTIFUL set at bed bath & beyond but it was sold out in stores & all over the internet it was sold out. LAME. we found a pretty nice looking set at target for the perfect price - $9.99 haha but it works for our needs :) the other package were the candles for our centerpieces! i think i pulled every muscle lugging that box inside. maybe later i'll actually open it |

alright ladies - so, as our wedding gift from my parents, they're buying us a bed frame (we're so college & do not have one!) & a new mattress. i had found a frame we really liked, but we went around to furniture stores to see it in person & try it out. well, at Ashley Furniture - i fell in LOVE with this bed frame they had. omg, i just couldn't stay away from it & now the original frame (although we still love it) just kinda pails now. here's my dilemma: we're looking for queen & this frame at Ashley's only comes in king size. PLUS the floor model at the showroom by us is on sale since they discontinued the model. its the picture i posted. can you guys help us find this bedframe in a queen size that isn't really ridiculous in price?!?!?! THANK YOUUUUU
sidenote: i can still find & purchase this frame on their website, but it isn't available from them in queen & upholestered in this color or super similar! *UPDATE* so i did a lot more digging - & there was no way i was going to find this exact frame for a great price (thanks ladies for the ideas - i did check overstock! & there is no value city by me). BUT i found a VERY SIMILAR frame on amazon, actually. it's beige colored instead of sable, but my interior design friend explained to me why beige was better :) |
