12 months left
Wow, It's been over 9 months since I've posted here. Time is flying & I couldn't be happier!

We're almost at the 1 year mark (Jan 22) and guess how much planning we've done...

Almost nothing! Haha!

We've been throwing around ideas mostly, which is good. And we put a deposit down on the venue location! But it's definitely time to start getting a move on.

Our next step is going to be getting in contact with the church to talk about ceremony stuff. The original church we were looking at wouldn't allow us to use the building (since we're not members there--lame!), so we've had to find another place.

Having a January wedding is definitely a plus, though, because I don't feel like everyone is going to try to book my date!

The picture is of a cake I found on Flickr. I MUST HAVE THIS CAKE!

Color Matching
So we've pretty much decided that our colors are going to be green and brown (with maybe a little grey or silver for accent). And while brown is pretty much brown (we're definitely looking at a chocolate), there are SOOO many different shades of green!

Our problems is this: not only do we need to choose WHICH green we want, but we'll need to make sure everything matches. I realize that everything we get doesn't have to be the EXACT same shade... but it should at least work.

We're deciding between these two colors--a chartreuse and a clover. I'm also kind of liking a kind of avocado color which is somewhere in between (not so yellow but not so blue).

I obviously have to choose something that will look good on my bridesmaids, which is probably NOT the chartreuse. Could I do clover dresses & chartreuse other stuff?

I don't know!

Is anyone else having color quandries?

P.S. The second picture is a first-draft prototype of our invitation... what do you think?

Ceremony
The Church
This is the church I want to have our ceremony at.

It's a beautiful baptist church that's exactly halfway between our houses. We pass it every time we go to see each other at home! :)

The only thing is that we don't go there.

I know a lot of couples get married at churches they don't attend, but Alex feels weird about doing that. We'd like to have our youth pastor from our church do the ceremony (he's known us both forever), but our church actually meets in an elementary school... not exactly the most picturesque location.

I understand why he's concerned... we will be feeling like strangers during the most important moment of our lives... but I don't know what else to do.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Getting married in a church you don't attend? How do you feel about it?

LDRs?
Alex & I go to school 100 miles apart. I know it's not SUPER far away, but it's hard enough! We get to see each other about every other week, which is nice, but it's always hard trying to fit everything that we want to do/talk about in one weekend. And talking about wedding stuff over the phone is not the LEAST stressful thing in the world.

Anyone else planning a wedding through a long distance relationship?

What problems do you have?

What's good about it?

I find that it's kind of nice to have this time for us to be separate & "single" in a way; we get to have a couple years of independence before we're stuck together for good! I think this is important since we're so young (I'm 20 & he's 23).

So it's nice to have a little bit of space and my own little life... even though it's hard sometimes feeling like we live totally separate lives!

What about you guys?

Perfect.
This is my ring-- white gold solitaire setting with a .6 carat princess cut diamond. It's exactly what I wanted! Simple and classic. Perfect for my little finger (I had to get it resized from a 5 to a 4.5!). I absolutely adore it.

The Proposal
The Story
I went up to Biola to spend Valentine's Day with Alex. In the morning, he handed me a wrapped gift and a rolled-up note tied with a ribbon. He said it was my present, but I couldn't open it til later (Yep, it was the ring. I carried the ring around in my purse ALL DAY and didn't even know it!) We went to Denny's and did the crossword puzzle, drove up to Santa Monica and walked around the pier, taking pictures & such. Then we went to the Getty museum and explored all the exhibits. Around sunset, we meandered through the garden, came to the end of the sidewalk & sat down on a bench. We watched the sunset & took in the beautiful view, then he said it was time for my present. He unrolled the note, read it to me (so wonderful & romantic :D), and then he took a little black velvet box out of the wrapping paper, got down on one knee, and said "Keegan Rae, will you marry me?" I just started BAWLING. I said, "Nonononono, for real? Really? No. For real???" and he kept saying "Yes, yes, yes." I nodded my head & we hugged. And I fogged up his glasses. Then he told me to wave at the camera.

It's all very exciting & I hope the next 22 months go by quickly! But I'm also excited to have plenty of time to plan and NOT STRESS! :)
