Married!!
<3
Butch and I were married this past Saturday, 09.19.09, and it was THE most amazing day of our lives!! We spent this past week exploring wine country and fell in love with California all over again :) I'm loving my "new" name and can't seem to say the word "husband" enough ~ We are SO excited!!! Thank you to both of our families and everyone who made our day so perfect!!! I will share pictures soon :)

Wedding Flowers
Adding color with flowers.
So we've decided that the groomsmen and bridesmaids will be wearing all black ... girls full length dresses in black, and guys bowtie & vest in black (white shirt of course). But we are using flowers to add in our "moss green" and other shades of green. I'm SO excited about this! The flowers are going to just pop. Our bouquets will be a combination of the photos posted, and we will have 2 different styles of reception centerpieces - some tall with birch branches and spider mums and others low with a bundle of flowers. This will work well with our reception hall, as it has incredibly high ceilings - 2 stories tall.

Honeymoon
Help!!
Brides! I need help! We still haven't booked our honeymoon, partially because we don't know where we want to go! Aruba or Jamaica? Or Hawaii? If anyone has been to one of these locations, please feel free to share your experience and/or advice!
Aruba - This is where we thought we'd go all along, but airfare is ridiculous to get there and flight times are difficult flying out of Minneapolis/St Paul. So we've started to look into other options... Jamaica - We are looking at either the Rockhouse Hotel or the Tensing Pen Hotel - Both of which look amazing! Currently have a Villa on hold at the Rockhouse. Hawaii - Haven't look into specific resorts |

Wedding Photography
Who to choose when you're a photographer yourself?
My fiance and I have our own wedding/portrait photography business - photography by mccartney - and we have been asked time and time again who we have chosen to document our wedding day! Every time, we reply with a smile and tell them that we have elected to go with Shane Opatz Photography - a previous co-worker of Butch's and someone he has looked up to for many years. Like us, he approaches the day with a photojournalistic style. We're both very excited to be on the other side of the camera for an entire day! And you bet we're prepared with tons of photos we must have :)

Bridesmaids
Bridesmaids Dresses
As we are going with primarily a Black & White wedding, my bridesmaids are wearing all black - see the photo to the left, and picture it in solid black :) Their dresses compliment mine and are very flattering on all of my girls! Many of them are ACTUALLY so happy with them that they're going to get them shortened so they can be re-worn - Yay!

Wedding Invitation
Designed by Family
My incredibly talented Sister-in-Law to-be designed our Wedding Collateral and did such a fabulous job! I just wanted to share her work and say that she defined our style by setting a tone of "clean and simple elegance" with the Save the Date, Invitation, RSVP Card, Accommodations Card and Rehearsal Card!! Thank you Stevi!

Wedding Hair Style
This is my Hairstyle!
So I have had two trial runs on my hair ... One with my regular stylist here in Minnesota, and just this last weekend one with the stylist in Wisconsin who will do my hair on our wedding day! My hair is relatively short and does not like to hold curl but I can happily say that it stayed in tact all day long and I loved the look! Kristen Bell paved the way for a great wedding hairstyle :) I will have a long veil and then a beautiful vintage hair comb once I remove the veil.

Ask a Question
Limo or Trolley??
Couples tend to prefer one or the other, so I'm just wondering what everyone's opinion is on this... I immediately knew I wanted to ride around in an old-style trolley on my wedding day!! But many friends have had limos, so feel free to share your choices!
Note that the picture attached is the exact trolley we are renting! |

Wedding Reception
The Best Hall in Town... & it's Ours!
Like any other couple, right after Butch proposed we started discussing where we want to have our reception! We knew the ceremony would be at my church, but had several hall choices. In a heartbeat, we were set on the Great Hall. It has high ceilings, gorgeous coloring inside, a lovely entry lobby area, and a lounge upstairs with an amazing view looking down at the main floor. On the marquee out front, it will read "Congratulations Kelsy and Butch" along with our wedding date, which is September of 2009! I am SO excited about the Great Hall, it will set the tone for a sophistocated, classy reception to be coupled with an amazing meal followed by wine and dancing with family and friends!
