being the daughter and a granddaughter of florists, my experience is that gerberas dont last long. they will wilt by the end of your wedding if you dont have them in oasis. they require a lot of water. i had a good friend who insisted on gerberas, she ended up going with some beautiful silk ones. couldnt believe how realy they looked.

You can do a mix of both mini and Gerber’s.  Yes, they are costly and are a delicate flower to handle for the day.  However, the good news is they are not seasonal and they are available in June for your wedding.
Check out my site I have some pictures you may want of Gerber's.

I don't know what you consider expensive but, you can get them from your local grocer florist for $0.99 a stem. I work for a florist during all the big flower holidays and prom every yr. As long as you keep them in water and buy supports ( a plastic sleeve that goes over the stem to keep them from drooping) they will be fine. they are a flower that definitely needs water.  If you don't want to use oasis you could also use water picks. To save money you could also do a rose gerbera combo. You can get roses for about $0.80 a stem.  Of course if your going thru a florist instead of diy you will pay a TON more the mark up on florist labor is ridiculous.
I do however * extremely * disagree about using silk. I would only use silk in the church placed far enough away that ppl wont be able to really tell the diff. Hope this helps. Good Luck!!

We are going with silk flowers for our wedding. We are using Gerber daisies and roses. As for price they are fairly cheap but can be hard to find if our using the red colored ones. As for real flowers I have been told by several florists they are a cheaper way to go. But I must agree with some of the ladies in saying they can be fragile and do wilt easily.
