Ask a Question
WHAT DO YOU THINK ????

ok so we are doing a hawaiian/chinese reception type thing. LOL if you can picture that. So I was thinking instead of a candy buffet having a fortune cookie buffet! You know different flavors and chocolate covered cookies. I have looked all over the internet for pictures of a cookie buffet but I haven't seen one. So please all give me some input !!

so cute!  i dont know if you could get this shipped to you or made where you are, but somewhere by aloha tower/downtown my mom found some where you can customize what it says inside!  i would totally use them at my wedding except that the reason my mom found them was for my hs graduation dinner!  (i wonder if anyone would even remember, probably not...lol)

These look like yummy cookies....

I'd use some Asian square/rectangle type dishes to display the on, and a few chinese takeout boxes in different sizes. Use chopsticks instead of candy scoops or tongs.

btw, cute idea!

I think having fortune cookies in a buffet is a good idea, but maybe not a whole fortune cookie buffet.

The reason I say that is this: if you had a regular candy/cookie buffet, people would think things like this, "oh! I want some of xxx type, and I've gotta get me a few of those.  These chocolattey cookies look really great ..." and they'll take a few different items.  Now, if all you had was fortune cookies, it would look all fancy, but the fun is not in the treat, it's in the fortune.  Lots of people would only take one, and chat with their friends and compare fortunes. ...  In essence, I think the "spirit" of a buffet, and the "spirit" of a fortune cookie are different.

If it were me, I would have a few different colours of fortune cookies at the table - part of the centrepiece, maybe? - and then guests have something in common to chat about at their table.  If some guests don't know each other very well, then that can be a good icebreaker.

It would also be cool to have the unique fortune cookies as the centrepiece at the cookie buffet, if you so choose.

The chopstick idea is a good one, but not everyone knows how to use chopsiticks.  You can totally "asian it up" by using asian looking plates, and you could even have the "double happiness" and other chineese symbols around the table.

All in all, the idea is very unique, and will suit your theme, so if you really want it, don't let what anyone else tells you.  This is just my perspective.
