How we met
We both were attending a Pastor & Wife Anniversary Program at Salvation Word of Life Church. His Pastor, Rev. Raleigh Rucker was to deliver the message and my Pastor, Apostle Welborn Westbrook was to give the words of inspiration. As the church asked for a visitor to respond to the welcome, I stood and gave my response. Little did I know, he was behind me watching me.
The very next week, Rev. Rucker was schedule to do a three night revival at our church. Nicholas being one of the musicians, was there every night. On the last night of revival, my Pastor had asked me to ask Nicholas if he knew of anyone looking for a Minister of Music position. I introduced myself and gave him my card and asked if he knew of any prospects please contact me. Little to no suprise, he called. It took him about two weeks, but he called. He called one day and told me that he was looking and that he would call me later to give me details. The next time he called of course he said that the musician wasn't available any longer. He then invited me to his church for a program that he would be singing on. I went to his church to a Bobby Hurd birthday celebration, where this wonderful quartet group, by the name of "The Mighty Sons of Praise" were giving their debut performance. I was in awe. They were awesome. After the program, Nicholas asked if I had time to grab a cup of coffee "which I hate", but I said yes. If he could sing like that the least I could do was have a cup of nasty coffee with the man. We went to Waffle House and had a Sprite instead and my favorite "Hashbrowns covered in cheese with a bowl of ketchup". The conversation was great. He kept me smiling. The rest is history......... |

The Proposal
What A Day
Nic and I had really been excited about this day for about two months. He was being installed as Pastor of Greenwood Baptist Church. I had so many things going on. I think I was more nervous than Nic was. The night prior to, I really didn't get any sleep. I stayed up doing the programs and getting my clothes ready and making sure everything else was ready. We made it to the church about an hour early and so many people were there. Everyone from Greenwood and Mt. Patmos came to show their support. There were about 50 ministers that were there to support. After the singing and the sermon had gone forth, it was then time for Nic to come forward to give his thank you's and special acknowledgements. He called me forward. I thought he was just gonna introduce me and tell everyone how he loved me so, as he normally does. I was so happy that the program was finally over I didn't think anything different. When I got up front he then called Victor forward and told everyone how Victor had helped him do so many things over the past few years while he was here in Atlanta. He asked him to help him with one more thing.........And then Victor pulled that little blue box out of his coat pocket. I just about fainted. I screamed for about five minutes without a single breath. Nic went on to tell everyone how I was the most important person in his life and how he couldn't imagine living without me. He wanted me to be the person who walked beside him for the rest of both our lives and to be the person who he shared every moment with. I cried my eyes out. I remember feeling faint but held my balance on Rev. Tremayne until I could get my thoughts together to scream YES YES YES!!!!!!
