Taking Traditions from All Kinds of Places
Signing the Brides Shoe!
I think its a cute idea - its a turkish tradition. All single bridesmaids sign the bottom of the shoe and the name left on at the end of the night will be the next to be married. I just like the sentimental value of having all my closest friends signing it. It's kinda cute!

Ask a Question
Backing up the Site? Ok..im a little computer impaired when it comes to this.
I've seen some brides talking about saving their site once in a while - backing it up and now that I am (finally) putting up some of my ideas and decisions, I'd like to know how to back them up. Can anyone tell me how to do that? Thanks ladies!

Our Story
Karl and Kristle - Love at (almost) First Sight :P
It started on a search for the Christian group at my college, which led to an email to Karl -the guy who led it and knew directions to the club meetings. A few weeks in, I was invited over for dinner by his roommate with a few other people from lifeline (the christian group) and things kinda sparked from there. We started hanging out 3 or 4 times a week, watching movies and having amazing talks until 2 or 3 in the morning - which often resulted in us dragging ourselves through our early morning classes the next day lol. Anyway, as I got to know him, I realized more and more that this was my dream guy - a guy that was too good to even exist but here he was. After a couple months of annoying my friends with going back and forth every day - 'he has to like me, look what he did' to 'how could I ever think he liked me' whenever he seemed the least bit disinterested - I told him how I was feeling. His answer? A heart crushing - "I'm not ready for a relationship." The next couple months were spent trying to squash my feelings for him as we continued to hang out - they obviously never left. One night while hanging out he just blurted it out - he was interested, and had been, and just was ready. *sigh* -- I had wondered SO long and he was interested. O well, at least I knew know. He asked me out on a date and at the end he said 'Will you go out with me?'. I had to laugh - it seemed so juvenile to say it like that but I was so happy - I said yes, kissed him (I think he was suprised...he didnt kiss back..lol) and spent the rest of the night smiling like an idiot. He walked me back to my room and we started the most amazing relationship I've ever had - I've never had more fun, been more happy or trusted anyone more. He's goofy, hes caring, he does all the little things without me every having to mention it. He's a hard worker - he just graduated from college with a degree in Animation at the top of his class(you'll see his name in movie credits if you watch long enough! lol), he would do anything for me and makes me want to do the same. We are ridiculously happy, the kind of people that are embarrassing to watch - from silly nicknames, to shadow puppets, to having the best nights just playing yahztee or boggle - I can't wait to spend my life with my perfect guy. We couldnt be a more perfect fit. We told eachother two weeks in that we were getting married, he asked my parents for around a month and a half and at 2 months - we were engaged! It was quick, we've had a lot of raised eyebrows but for us and for those who know us - we make perfect sense!

Picture Frame and Guest Book
we're doing both!
I love love love the idea of a picture frame guest book to hang in our house after, but like everyone else, I dont want 150+ trying to fit their signatures/messages on it. So instead, we are going to have the picture frame guest book at the rehearsal for everyone close to us to sign and then the regular guest book for the reception.
I also love the canvas idea from canadianbride. Maybe we'll have that (really big) at the reception instead of the guest book. We'll see. |

Kiss Request Ideas
Similiar to owenisawesome's post -http://www.weddingbycolor.com/owenisawesome/milestones/10254 - we are hoping to make the guests do something in order to see us kiss. My FI's brother and his fiance simply did the glass clinking thing - which is fine - but it got annoying after a while and I cant see us doing that ALL night. Owenisawesome gave me the idea to make the guests to something in order to see us kiss. It will be entertaining and hopefully reduce the amount of kiss requests. Have any ideas ladies?

We are VERY lucky!
Karl's uncle does photography for a hobby and is going to do our wedding for us- for FREE! He will touch up the pictures and then just give them all to us on a cd so we can print them anywhere, anytime and any way we want. I was a bit unsure about it because pictures are important to me but he photographed my FI's brothers wedding this past weekend and he was really good! So that cuts a big chunk out of our budget which is really great! We have been really fortunate in our initial planning because his dad is a Pastor who will be doing our ceremony for free, his uncle is doing photography for free, his cousin his doing videography (professionally!) for a huge discount, we got the reception venue for free, and we are having ALOT of family help or lend us things that will reduce costs.

Ask a Question
Favors or Donations?
After putting alot of thought into what to do for favors (and we love the CD idea - we are both lovers of music and cant have all the songs we want in the actual wedding), I am wondering if a simple donation would be a better idea. What do you guys think? Do favors actually matter to alot of people, dont most just eat them or throw them away? It seems silly, in my opinion, for us to spend money on something that will be thrown away if it could instead go to a good cause. If we DO do the favors - what do you think about a wedding cd? Has anyone actually appreciated getting one of those or are they just thrown away or put in a drawer? thanks ladies!

Embracing It - Going to Plan Anyway.
The wedding is now two years away, but since I am obviously way too far into my wedding planning addiction, I am going to plan anyway. Im not going to pick colours - I will likely create several inspiration boards and see which i like the most in the end for colors -mostly just because I know they will probably change before the wedding. I am, however, going to collect ideas that can be adjusted once I find my color scheme. That way, I still get to plan and share all the ideas I've had and get ideas from you ladies. Even though the two years is going to be loooooong, I am mostly embracing it now - it will give me alot of time to find great ideas and figure out DIY ideas to save money!

Pushed the Wedding Back
:(
So, we've decided to move the wedding back another year..so it will be 2010 instead of 2009. Its been something we've been considering for a while, but just finally decided on. It's definitely not something we want to do, but in the long run, makes more sense. Anyway, its kinda sad and I'll probably be moping around for a few days..but the wedding will come eventually. I just never wanted a really long engagement, and the wedding is a VERY VERY long time away. At least in my mind..lol.

Ask a Question
How old will everyone be when they get married?
I'm pretty young, I'll be 21 when we get married, my FI will be 22. We've gotten a bit of slack because of it. If you don't mind me asking, how old will you be when you get married?

Church my parents were married in. Reception ![]() ![]() |
Ceremony
So I'm getting married at the church that my parents got married at, in my hometown. I really like the idea of getting married in the same church as my parents. It is small, however, and I am a little worried about fitting everyone in (about 150-200) but hopefully! Also, my future Father in law will be doing the ceremony which I think will be really great.
The reception venue is indoors, but has trees planted all throughout it with the trees climbing along the ceiling to create a canopy look. I think its really going to create the summer garden look - without having to risk the weather by being outside. I think its going to be great! tags:

Cootie Catchers!!
I think these are soo cute! They will be really cheap, with our names and date of the wedding on the outside flaps, and questions about us on the inside. I think it will be a nice icebreaker and give the guest something to do while waiting for dinner after being seated?
