Ask a Question
Favors or Donations?
After putting alot of thought into what to do for favors (and we love the CD idea - we love music and cant have all the songs we want in the actual wedding), I am wondering if a simple donation would be a better idea. What do you guys think? Do favors actually matter to alot of people, dont most just eat them or throw them away? It seems silly, in my opinion, for us to spend money on something that will be thrown away if it could instead go to a good cause. If we DO do the favors - what do you think about a wedding cd? Has anyone actually appreciated getting one of those or are they just thrown away or put in a drawer? thanks ladies!

**Thanks Ladies - we still arent sure on the favors but it likely wont be a cd - people arent huge fans. o well!

i went to my high school teacher's wedding and she gave cds out.  it wasnt extra music but it was just the music played at the ceremony/reception.  About 15 songs and I LOVE IT!  This was about 6 yrs ago and i listen to it all the time.  it could be we have similar taste in music, but it just makes me giddy because its a mix of the serious love songs, but fun love songs.  I really wanted to do this to but every time i mention it to other people, i get a "oh you really want to do that?..." reaction, so i nixed the idea. BUT it could be a possibility because it'll be pretty inexpensive i think.

I truly can not remember the favors at any wedding I have ever been to in my life.  My guess is that most other people can't, either. I do really like the CD idea and might utilize it myself, since our music will be a very special and personal touch, but other than that I think it's a pretty big waste of money to spend $500 on some crappy cookies or a picture frame that will never get used. Better to donate that money to charity as "A gift in honor of the loved ones of Mr. & Mrs. kjk2009."

I've been reading a lot about people's opinion of wedding favors.  It seems that a lot of people feel strongly about favors.

I personally don't think I would use a CD given to me at a wedding.  The chances of me having the same music tastes are fairly slim.

I think a charity donation is brilliant.  It's unique, and some charities print out nice place holder cards that you can give your guests.
